According to whispers, this will be the last GP staged at Gelsenkirchen. Probelms with behind the scenes stuff and just generally awful sales so far. Apparently the German Speedway clubs aren't supporting it either. I thought IMG had a multi-year deal with the Veltins Arena for the Grand Prix? But why should the speedway clubs support it? I doubt it does anything for them. It's amazing that the British clubs support the Cardiff event, since it does nothing for them. Or perhaps they think they get a little "trickle down" effect, but I'd doubt if they do. And no one really cares about preposterous gimmicks like the "Super Prix", which is just a load of cobblers.

Apparently the Veltins Arena are unhappy with the relationship and have reason to terminate. Maybe parts of the contract have never been fulfilled.
As for the speedway clubs, they are not running any trips like they did last year. That's all.

I think it's time to realise that the Grands Prix are running out of steam and IMG are just running around introducing more fixtures to try and retain the initiative. But only six riders are regularly competitive and only two riders (Nicki P and Crump) stand any chance of being champion.

NB. I've just had a flick-through the Speedwayworld.tv site and there's no mention of a long-period contract.

I'd have thought the same but maybe Veltins Arena were sensible enough to realise they weren't making money from the sport.

Speaking on commercial type things, I didn't spot Mr Hancock giving his favourite Monster drink much promotion at Lonigo. Have IMG clamped down on him?
