Nyköping municipality has helped keep speedway alive for Griparna after helping with the financing of both the airfence and floodlit roof which they are required to have in place next year.
Lejonen still haven't secured the signatures of Michael Max, Davey Watt, David Ruud and Chris Holder. Personally I'd be happy for three of those four to go and keep Holder.
Fredrik Eklund and Percy Lundkvist have been kicked off of Smederna's board of directors, while Bosse Jansson and Kent Johansson have received a written warning. The four were said to have been "disloyal, discouraged the business purposes, and substantially harmed the association and its members' interests."
And Rospiggarna have a fortnight to decide if they are going to stay in the Elitserien or drop down a league.

i know this thread says 2009 (perhaps you Schumi could rename it to "Swedish news and issues?) but here is some really good news. Gotland Islanders AKA Bysarna have been granted a construction permit from Gotland's planning and construction office, for their new track in Gotland Islanders AKA Bysarna have been granted a construction permit from Gotland's planning and construction office, for their new track in Hejdeby, which is just a few Km east of Visby. They have earlier been granted a permit from Gotland's environmental office, however that permit has been appealed. Apparently noise measurements have been conducted in a manor to simulate a real heat start. The results were most satisfying and the engines could not be heard as close as a few hundred meters away at the local church. When finished the track will have several noise reducing constructions such as high and wide dirt walls and noise reducing fences. The construction will be done in two stages. In the first stage the access road and the 80cc track will be built, in the second stage the 500cc track, service buildings, pits, stands, parkings and etc will be built. http://sverigesradio...artikel=3710320 http://gotlandsnytt....hejdeby-kanske/ www.helagotland.se/sport/default.aspx?articleid=6023598*edit* thanks Schumi

Svemo have taken a joint decision with Danish and British officials to postpone the enforcement of the new silencers the new date is January 1st 2011. Svemo says that they're are not satisfied with the amount of noise reduction and with the power losses. IMO i wonder how quiet they want it to be if the new silencers aren't silent enough.

Jonas Davidsson is forced to operate his broken cheekbone. Jonas was at Linköpings University Hospital earlier today and the doctors told him that a surgery is necessary to avoid any future problems: s according to the info i have found about cheekbone fractures o he will most certainly miss 3-4 weeks of speedway possible even longer so the TWC might be in danger for him. www.corren.se/sport/motorsport/?articleId=5268555

Some news regarding the Elitlicense. Two clubs have gotten their application rejected: Wetervik MSK (Västervik) Nyköpings SK (Griparna) KMC Karlstad (Solkatterna) have not applied for a license. The following clubs/team have applied and been granted an elitelicense: - Gasarna SK (Masarna & Gasarna, Avesta)
- Gislaveds MK (Lejonen, Gislaved)
- Hagfors SK (Valsarna, Hagfors)
- Hammarby IF (Bajen Speedway, Gubb'ngen/Stockholm)
- Kumla MSK (Indianerna, Sannahed/Kumla)
- Mariestads MK (Örnarna, Mariestad)
- Målilla MK (Dackarna, Målilla)
- Rospiggarna SK (Rospiggarna, Hallstavik)
- SMK Motala (Piraterna, Motala)
- SMK Östgöta (Vargarna, Norrköping)
- Vetlanda MS
As a spontaneous comment, its no surprise that Västervik wouldn't make it. A bit more surprising is that Lejonen actually were granted a license since they just a few weeks the town, in which Lejonen are based, had to buy a part of Lejonens arena for over £200'000 GBP to cover up for Lejonens very week economy. If i remember it correctly Lejonen have shown red figures every season since they returned to Elitserien yet they have been granted an Elitlicense every year. Also remember that SVEMO who takes the decision are looking at what the financial status of the clubs at December 31st 2009 and May 31st 2010 for next years license. Then also remember that there won't be a regular promotion/demotion system between Allsvenskan and Elitserien this and next season since all teams that wants to be in the new Elitserien have to apply to it.

ghostwalker i would like to see some replays from lejonen fixtures like you have got for smedernas any chance? well there is none available. Canal+ own the rights for Elitserien and they are a subscription channel, the same goes for their web-tv which is only available in Scandinavia. The next three televised meetings: August 3rd: Piraterna-Lejonen August 10th: Indianerna-Valsarna August 17th: Elit Vetlanda - Vargarna

Hammarby's team manager Fredrik Edberg have received a 10 month suspension for being verbal abusive against (threatening) a referee. The claimed incident happened in June during a meeting in div 1 between Ikaros Smederna and Nassjö at Smederna's track. Edberg denies that he threatened the refee but agrees that he was upset with him because he had fined two of Smedernas's riders because they were riding their bikes in he pit without the "dead man's switch" around the wrist. Henrik Karlsson and Alexander Edberg (son of Fredrik) both received a £175GBP fine each and Fredrik though that the fine was unnecessary high for a Div 1 rider. Fredrik also claims that several other riders also rode their bikes in the pits without the safety device. folket.se/spo...eedway/1.781136This is the same Fredrik Edberg who last year were convicted in court for various economical crimes.
