Everyone knows they are strong but they need to win something to back it up.

Everyone knows they are strong but they need to win something to back it up. A team doesn't need to win anything to get credit for the way it is currently performing. A perfect example is the lack of any credit Edinburgh get from the Sky pundits (Kelvin 'to be perfectly honest' Tatum and company). When they mention the PL teams challenging for honours this season the Monarchs NEVER get a mention. They'd need to go through the whole list of PL teams before they would give them even a grudging acknowlegement and even then they'd probably miss out Edinburgh! Of course they'd need a list of who is actually in the PL this year so ill-informed are they. Hardly a southern based track reporter gave the Monarchs an earthly when they did their season's previews and forecasts in the Speedway Star about who would be successful this year and who wouldn't. The mind set that 'real' speedway is a preserve of southern England based tracks has been predominant for some time now and if the league champions do not come from Reading, Rye House, King's Lynn or Somerset these guys will probably take it as a personal insult.

OK and I probably shouldn't have used your quote - I was referring to the link schumi posted regarding the Monarchs not getting credit where it's due. Apologies for that.

Not another " how great are the Monarchs " thread .AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH . Pass me the sick bag . Now, now Paulco. You knew this would happen one day and you were well warned through the glory gloating days of last season!! No doubt your turn will come again (once the season sees Michell Davey and the rest turn into a powerhouse septet as they are developed for the future wellbeing of the asset-rich Tigers! ). Great sides come together rarely and only last a season before the points limit means they have to be torn apart. Look on the bright side there's only five months to go!! ;D

Well, I recognise you guys and I'm coming up to see you on Friday. I notice Edinburgh were predicted to finish 10th in the Speedway Star season preview edition - isn't that the same as last time you won the league (that reminds me, I want to get hold of a copy of "10th yer baws" - is it still on sale in the track shop?) Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching Scotland's No. 2 team in action on Friday

I think King Jaimie will be able to arrange for you to get a copy and, yes, you're right, we were forecast to finish tenth that season. As to the last paragraph I should tell you that Glasgow aren't riding on Friday!!
