Nice 3 months rest in a cushy open prison no doubt with his own key to the door. He'll be able to drive out (jeffery Archer style) for pre-season training. 2.5k to the guy he smashed up? They could at least have made it a week's wages instead of less than half a days.

Well, if it were up to me, he'd be forced to enter a room containing Duncan Ferguson wearing a t-shirt saying "Duncan Derguson is a Heathen wimp and Nancy Boy". We'd see how tough he is then.

news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7599647.stmNewcastle's Joey Barton has been banned for six games by the Football Association, with another six suspended, for assaulting Ousmane Dabo.
Barton, 26, had previously admitted the charge of violent conduct and was fined £25,000 at the personal hearing.
He will be banned for another six games if he is found guilty in the future. Is that it? Hardly a deterrent is it? It's time this waste of space was given his marching orders.

Is that it? Hardly a deterrent is it? It's time this waste of space was given his marching orders. Agreed. Having that odious individual on the playing staff shames the name of Newcastle United. And that takes some doing these days.

Bartons behaviour has been appalling, but he must look like aled jones when wise is around, and dont forget joey is a scouser, and its never their fault, i dare say the south yorshire police and belgian bricklayers are at the root of the problem

Spot the irony. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7693872.stmNewcastle's interim manager Joe Kinnear has hit out at Sunderland fans for throwing missiles at Joey Barton during their game on Saturday.
The midfielder was targeted as he warmed up on the sidelines before coming on for Nicky Butt during the 2-1 derby defeat.
"He had bottles thrown at him. It was bang out of order - we must keep this out of football," said Kinnear.
"All he was guilty of was warming up on the side of the pitch."
Kinnear praised Barton for his behaviour as he made his first appearance since completing a six-match ban for assaulting his former Manchester City team-mate Ousmane Dabo on the training ground.
"I felt sorry for him, but thankfully he kept his cool and went on the pitch," added Kinnear.
"He didn't panic and didn't have a grudge against the Sunderland fans."
Barton infuriated the home fans when he kissed his badge in their direction during Newcastle's first loss on Wearside for 28 years.
The game ended with fans from the two clubs clashing and police made 29 arrests during the day, while the Football Association has vowed to investigate.
