Daniel Nermark, poor little thing, wasn't fit enough to ride in Workington's fixtures this weekend at Scunthorpe on Friday and at home to Reading on Saturday. Apparently, so the story went, he was taking the weekend off. So, presumably sportowefakty.pl have it wrong: live.sportowefakty.pl/launch_speedway_847.htmlOr are Nermark and the Comets extracting urine? After all, why should Ian Thomas or Workington care when they can draft in former hero James Wright as a guest, which has the added bonus of Charles Wright having big brother around to hold his hand.

Stop winding up the poor little Comets fans on the BSF.

Stop winding up the poor little Comets fans on the BSF. Ah but genghis, young fellow, it's just so sweet when you're right. Not that you have much experience, so you'll have to take my word for it.

Ah, but I'm always right. But I feel a bit of sympathy for the Comets fans. Nermark is the big hero up there, and suddenly he's let them down. It's never easy in that kind of situation for the fans. Of course, the only way around it is to stop riders riding in the other leagues if they ride in the EL or PL. Sure, quite a few riders would be lost, but all those expensive air fares would be cut out, and it would benefit British Speedway in the long-term. IMO it's the only way forward.

They don't care, especially if they can get last year's favourite James Wright in to cover. They'd only be bothered if that suddenly wasn't an option.

Looks like they were reading our comments, but don't know he didn't withdraw. How interesting.

A little more on both situations at Workington, from the Times&Star:
Nermark to race Last updated 19:38, Thursday, 15 May 2008
WORKINGTON Comets expect to have number one rider Daniel Nermark in their line-up for tomorrow’s Derwent Park clash with Scunthorpe.
Nermark missed last Saturday’s meeting because he was injured but then rode in Poland just 24 hours later.
He has since ridden in Sweden on Tuesday night and was scheduled to race there last night.
Comets team boss Ian Thomas and owner Keith Denham plan to have words with Nermark tomorrow.
Comets will have to use rider replacement for 20-year-old Barry Burchatt, seriously injured in a grasstrack smash at Ashford when he was involved in a big pile up.
Scunthorpe will be without heat leader Richard Hall who is taking part in a qualifying heat for the World Longtrack Championship.
In his place Scunthorpe have booked Joel Parsons, a rider who has had his brushes with the Workington fans in recent years because of incidents on the track.
Parson comes in at No5 for Hall who scored nine points for the Scorpions in their home win last Friday.
Comet Carl Stonehewer top-scored as a guest for Glasgow Tigers when they lost 52-40 at Birmingham Brummies on Wednesday night.
Stonehewer, who had also guested for the Tigers on Sunday, was kept busy as he was given six races.
He only won one of them, but scored four points for earning a second going in as a tactical substitute off 15 metre handicap and was put into the nominated riders race at the end, earning the Tigers point in a 5-1 to the Brummies.
Stonehewer, who finished with 14 points, and Ross Brady (13) and Robert Ksiezak (9), carried the Glasgow effort.
After June 1, Workington will move Joe Haines up to number four, he will be included in the rider replacement facility along with Charles Wright and John Branney.
For the record, Nermark scored a full maximum last night for his Swedish Allsvenskan club, Solkatterna.

Good news for Workington fans - Nermark may be back soon. He's going to try and ride in Sweden on Thursday and see how it goes.

Nermark's season is well and truly over after sustaining a knee injury in Poland. He's had surgery, but it will take about 6 months to heal.
