Reading are the visitors to the Dale on Friday (9th) in a PL match and as I rate the Racers for a top four spot in the league, this one could go down to the wire.
The Monarchs will have Thomas H. Jonasson back in the ranks fresh from winning the Swedish U21 qualifier last Saturday but not sure about Reading who seem to have a few injury problems. I had heard that Ross Brady might be in a Racers jacket in place of Danny Warwick and IF Ross gets in to gear this will strengthen Racers BUT which Ross Brady will turn up?
Any news on the injured Jamie Smith Wacks and will you be making an appearance at the Lothian Arena?

Ross is still waiting delivery on his new engines , so might not have them in time to tackle the Monarchs at the former Stadium of Mince . So it will still be the slow Ross . The all-singing , all dancing champions elect should win this comfortably enough as, although Lemon is usually ok round Armadale , Ostegaard isn't the force there as he is elsewhere . Cant see the Racers getting 40 on Friday i'm afraid .

Edinburgh will be without Thomas for all the weekend matches. He tangled with Daniel Nermark in the Swedish Elite match on Tuesday, fell and got run over by Törnqvist. He has leg and rib injuries Full story at Edinburgh Speedway.

Think we could count ourselves lucky if we get within 20 points of the Monarchs tonight. Not sure what to expect from our guest reserves but will go for 4 between them Ullie & Lemo should get 22 between them, Madsen 5 or 6, mills 3 or 4, big fat ZERO from Suchanek. Don't think it's going to be pretty!

Trackside Updater: Dekker
Chatzone Updater: The good soldier Svejk
Referee: Peter Clarke
Start Time: 7.30PM
Weather: Dull, dry but a few spots of rain
Gates: Edinburgh win the coin toss and take 1 & 3 in Ht 1
Monarchs' Man of the Match: Ryan Fisher
Most Exciting Rider: Ryan Fisher, as Ostergaard was ruled ineligible due to being a... Monarchs Chatzone Heat 01 Derek Sneddon..1 Ryan Fisher..3 Mark Lemon..F/Rem Chris Mills..2
4-2 4-2 TIME: ?
Mills led from the gate and held the lead for three and a half laps, until Fisher got by him and Sneddon almost caught him on the line - great first couple of laps from Mills, but he got "wilder and wilder" as the race went on. Dekker doesn't do times.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 02 Andrew Tully..3 Aaron Summers..2 Gary Beaton..0 Ross Brady..1
5-1 9-3 TIME: ?
Reading gated on a 5-1, but Tully, off gate 4, cut underneath everyone exiting turn 2 to take the lead - Summers was at the back, but he passed Beaton on lap 1 and Brady, who was riding wider and wider, on lap 4. Monarchs Chatzone Heat 03 William Lawson..E/F Andrew Tully..F/Ex Ulrich Ostergaard..3 Tomas Suchanek..2
0-5 9-8 TIME:
Tully takes the R/R for Edinburgh. Lawson from the gate, led for a lap and a half and then ground to a halt. Tully and Ostergaard having a "ding-dong" battle, culminating in them trading elbows going down the back straight on lap 4 and Tully going shooting into the fence - Tully excluded, the fans not happy.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 04 Matthew Wethers..0 Aaron Summers..2 Tom P. Madsen..3 Ross Brady..1
2-4 11-12 TIME: ?
More controversy as a tight turn 1 sees Brady "two wheel" across the path of Wethers, who comes to a virtual halt while the other three steam off into the distance.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 05 William Lawson..2 Aaron Summers..1 Mark Lemon..3 Chris Mills..0
3-3 14-15 TIME:
Summers takes the R/R for Edinburgh. From the gate, with Lawson trying to pass Lemon for the win, but Lemon seemed to be "wise" to Lawson's favoured move up the inside exiting turns 2 and 4.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 06 Derek Sneddon..2 Ryan Fisher..3 Tom P. Madsen..Ex Gary Beaton..Ex
5-0 19-15 TIME: ?
And we've a re-run without the presence of a Reading rider - an Edinburgh 5-1 from the gate, but Madsen and Sneddon traded positions until Madsen "wiped out Sneddon's front wheel" and was excluded, while Beaton had already packed up and was excluded for not being under power at the time of the stoppage. In the re-run it was, not surprisingly, from the gate.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 07 Matthew Wethers..3 Andrew Tully..1 Ulrich Ostergaard..2 Tomas Suchanek..0
4-2 23-17 TIME: ?
Reading from the start, but Wethers got passed both on turns 1 and 2 - Ostergaard "bust a gut" in his efforts to get the better of Wethers, but the Monarch rode a clever race to hold him off. Suchanek made a mistake on lap 3, locked up, came to a standstill and Tully nipped passed him.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 08 Ryan Fisher..1 Aaron Summers..3 Chris Mills..F/Rem Ross Brady..2
4-2 27-19 TIME: ?
A close turn 1 sees Summers give Mills a "bit of a shove" and Mills goes down, but the race carries on with Brady leading, until the Edinburgh pair both pass him going down the back straight. The Edinburgh riders off into the distance, until Fisher's engine started making weird noises and he slowed - slowed enough for Brady to pass him, but he just beat Mills to the chequered flag. Monarchs Chatzone Heat 09 William Lawson..3 Matthew Wethers..2 Tom P. Madsen..1 Gary Beaton..0
5-1 32-20 TIME: ?
Lawson from the start, with Wethers and Madsen close behind - Wethers cut back up the inside of Madsen exiting turn 2 and the Monarchs disappeared into the distance.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 10 Derek Sneddon..0 Ryan Fisher..3 Ulrich Ostergaard..2 Tomas Suchanek..1
3-3 35-23 TIME: ?
Reading on a 5-1 from the tapes and they tried to team ride, with Ostergaard taking care of Sneddon and Suchanek looking after Fisher, but Fisher swept around the outside of Ostergaard on turns 1-2 of lap 2 and then switched inside to take Suchanek entering turn 3 on lap 2. - "amazing ride" from Fisher.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 11 Matthew Wethers..0 Andrew Tully..1 Mark Lemon..T/R..6 Chris Mills..2
1-8 36-31 TIME: ?
Reading's Lemon takes a Tactical Ride. Lemon from the gate with Wethers second, but Wethers stuck resolutely to the inside and was passed by an outside swoop from Mills on turns 1-2 of lap 3 - Wethers then tried the outside line, but almost came to grief and went to last place.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 12 William Lawson..2 Aaron Summers..1 Ulrich Ostergaard..3 Ross Brady..0
3-3 39-34 TIME: ?
Brady replaces Beaton as a Reserve Replacement for Reading. Lawson from the start, but he was over-committed to the blast around the outside and Ostergaard cutback up the inside to take the lead exiting turn 2 - Lawson never more than a couple of bike lengths back, but Ostergaard rode a clever race. Brady around 30-40 yards behind everyone else.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 13 Derek Sneddon..3 Matthew Wethers..2 Mark Lemon..1 Tom P. Madsen..0
5-1 44-35 TIME: ?
A great start from Sneddon who clamped Lemon to the white line, while Wethers blasted around the outside to come alongside Lemon down the back straight and then he clamped Lemon to the white line on turns 3-4 - Lemon was close until lap 4, when the Monarchs took a comfortable lead.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 14 Ryan Fisher..2 Andrew Tully..0 Tomas Suchanek..3 Ulrich Ostergaard..T/S..2
2-5 46-40 TIME: ?
Fisher takes the R/R for Edinburgh. Ostergaard replaces Brady as a Tactical Substitute off a 15 metre handicap. Suchanek from the start and Fisher unable to make any impression on him, while Ostergaard got closer and closer to Tully, eventually passing him, but he never looked like catching Fisher.
Monarchs Chatzone Heat 15 Ryan Fisher..F/Ret William Lawson..3 Mark Lemon..2 Ulrich Ostergaard..1
3-3 49-43 TIME: ?
Edinburgh win the coin toss and take gates 2 & 4 - no they didn't, no they weren't, as, apparently, Pammie got it wrong. Reading won the coin toss and took gates 2 & 4. And we'll have a re-run with all 4 after Reading's Lemon takes a tumble on turn 1 - looked like Fisher's back wheel may have played a role in Lemon's demise. A tremendous race from all 4 riders, for three laps, particularly Messrs Fisher and Ostergaard who engaged in some hard but fair riding, until Ostergaard shunted Fisher into the fence entering turn 1 on the last lap. But he "got away with it, again". Monarchs Chatzone

I will give my views on the match tomorrow but one thing I will say is Ulrich Ostergaard is not going to be a favourite of mine

Looking forard to your unbiased meeting report ML ;D Did read a few coments on chatzone that seemed to indicate Ullie wasn't as hard as some people may think. It could just be that someone lent him a DVD of Peter Carr's greatest lines & bends.

Well as you know Wacks NO fan can be unbiased ;D I admit a lot depends on where you are standing and what angle you see incidents from and I will give Ostergaard the benefit in heat 15 which was a tremendous race with no rider giving a quarter. The speed at which both Ostergaard and Fisher were riding it wouldn't have taken much contact to send either rider to the fence and there was contact between the two of them entering bend one on the last lap and Fisher careered in to the fence. However heat 3 IMO was far different. Both Ostergaard and Tully had been passing and repassing till Ostergaard just got in front on the inside going down the back straight on the last lap. He then went across Tully on the corner leaving him no room to turn the bike and I felt a rider of his experience didn't need to do that. The meeting was brilliant with lots of passing from both teams on a good track that gave them the chance to pass And Wacks, how dare you compare Ostergaard to Peter Carr. He doesn't come close to being the great rider Carr was ;D

Small pond? You mean the pond that half the EL teams would rather be in?

PL may be classed as a small pond by some Davy, but at least it's not shallow like the EL
