Well, this week Sky is again offering a double bill, but this time it's Elite League and then Premier League. On Monday, the Poole Pirates take on the table-topping Swindon Robins, who'll be hoping to continue their very impressive string of away performances. But the Pirates will be welcoming Krzysztof Kasprzak back to their ranks in place of the injured Bjarne Pedersen. However, with Zabik almost certain to be missing and Suchecki definitely certain to be missing, the Pirates could be vulnerable, especially if Kasprzak takes a while to settle in. The Robins have the majestic Leigh Adams and former Poole rider Troy Batchelor, as well as Mads Korneliussen. It should be close, but I'd expect Poole to shade it. On Tuesday it's across the sea to the Isle of Wight, where Berwick were scheduled to be the visitors. But, although they're at the summit of the Premier League, it seems they were deemed too cruel and too crazy (Sky must've seen Makovsky riding) for the delicate viewers of Sky Sports. So, instead, it's the Reading Racers who'll be the visitors. Again this one will be close and I've a feeling the Racers will win in the end.

Poole versus Swindon
Poole..1..Krystof Kasprzak 2..Freddie Eriksson 3..Chris Holder 4..Karol Zabik R/R 5..Davey Watt 6..Craig Watson 7..Adam Skornicki Swindon..1..Leigh Adams 2..James wright 3..Mads Korneliussen 4..Travis McGowan 5..Troy Batchelor 6..Theo Pijper 7..Seb Alden The above is according to the Robins' website. It'll be a tough call for our young guys. I expect Leigh to score a hatful, but it all depends on the back up he has. If Mads scores show what we know he's capable of, and Alden continues in his current form, then we will be in for a close match. I'd love for us to win away again (I really could get used to it) and I think our away form speaks volumes (we possibly even have the best away from in the league so far) but I think it maybe just a bit much to expect.

Duller than dull, so far. Maybe I should stop watching the Polish speedway on-line, since it really embarrasses the Elite League stuff.

This is rubbish. The entertainment value is practically zero.

Well, I suppose Ht 14 wasn't so bad. But it owed so much more to McGowan being useless than Eriksson's and Skornicki's abilities - McGowan is a waste of a racesuit this season.

Couldn't Swindon have put Korneliesson(sp) off 15 meters in heat 14? Admittedly it wouldn't have made a difference, but it was at least worth a go surely?
I agree Mcgowan has been shite so far this season.

What a plank Rossiter is saying it was the wind that caused Adams' front wheel to hit the tapes. His interviews are embarrassing.

It gave me a chuckle - as did Rossiter's latter argument with the pits wall. ;D He would have been far better arguing that James Wright may have touched the tapes before Leigh Adams - as I think he may have done - by a fraction.

No, it was Adams - it looked to me like he touched the little bit that was hanging down from the tapes. But that's part of the tapes, so there was no other decision to be made. I'm afraid Rosco's argument wasn't credible.

Having had the chance to watch 2 matches today, Reading v IoW, then the Poole v Swindon match on the box I have to say my faith in GB speedway was lifted a little.
Firstly, the Reading match, I thought was ok, Ostergaard was simply awesome, IoW were very stuffy and seemed to have the right team to take advantage of Reading's early misfortune of Smith's withdrawal. Heat 9 at Smallmead was top drawer with the wonderous Dane charging from a desperate last position to the front over the space of 3 laps. Heat 13 saw Reading lose a shocking 5-1 with Lemon appearing to go backwards, but then when the chips were down (well Racers were by 2), Ostergaard, not surprisingly won heat 15, but the race between Lemon and Stojanowski for second was excellent. The Racer got the verdict and the decent sized home support were sent home happy with a very hard fought victory. Some of the racing wasn't great on a very slick trick, not helped by the delay during the runnings of heat 2. The wee man was more interested in when the tractors were coming out, but hey what does he know.
Onto tonight, I actually thought it wasn't a bad meeting by recent standards, with some good close action, albeit most of it limited to the first lap. Adams ride from 15 metres and heat 14 were absolute top drawer in my book and that's the kind of thing that rocks my boat. Even the Mrs thought heat 14 was good.
Holder showed again that he's got the make up to make it right to the top in my book. I just find it difficult to understand that he's so young - he really doesn't look it. I'll bet he's never been ID'd since he was about 8.
Anyway, a little faith restored in advance of the forthcoming trip to Polska. Now I'm certain of seeing a super GP on Saturday and might even be lucky to see an interesting League match on the Sunday. My mood with speedway as a whole is back to where it was around heat 12 in Krsko - Pesky rain !
