Regardless who Middleditch picks, Great Britain sorry Team GB won't win the World Cup this year. We simply aren't good enough. I don't know why people make such a fuss over who is in charge. A different maganger isn't going to turn all the riders in to GP standard ones. It's down to the way British Speedway is run. We don't have the mini speedway bikes and facilities like they have in Scandinavia.

He said: "I am not ruling out Premier League riders. It is just the fact it is difficult to judge a rider's true ability when they are in the Premier, and not in the Elite racing against the best riders in the world, because that is who they will come up against in the World Cup. "The lower points limit has closed the gap between the Premier and Elite and has encouraged a few more youngsters to come up this season, and I hope they can all stick it out. It is not going to be easy, they know that. But I hope it will be a springboard for them to develop their careers further." From www.speedwayworld.tvYet more twaddle from Middlo, trying desperately to wriggle out of his earlier comments. How many of the riders they'll be meeting in the SWC will be racing in the Elite League next season? Well, the best in the business, at the minute, won't. Nor will the likes of Kasprzak, Gollob, Holta, PK and a few others. And the moving of the EL and PL closer together just means that the EL is weaker. If he's going to set the bar high, he might as well rule out riders not racing in the Ekstraliga. Ah but that'll rule out Chris Harris, who is "ambitious" enough to ride in the Elite League, but seems to prefer Liga I in Poland.

The question is why the hell was that story on IMG's website and not the BSPAs! Maybe the people there asked him to clarify the situation. After all it is their competition.Maybe the BSPA don't care who he picks. Why is it such a big deal what website it is on?

Sub - one post of yours criticising Middlo, the next Nigel Pearson. Don't you ever feel the need to challenge expectations?

I have to say I agree with him on this So do I. In any case, I wouldn't pick Compton whatever league he is in. He's a one-track wonder, and also highly erratic and dangerous. His move on Stead in the final of the 2004 PLRC was shocking.

i dont quite understand the issue, middlo might be the best team manager in the world,or the worst, but either way he or anyone else could not possibly win jack shit with the current possible team, and he undoubtedly knows this. the biggest problem with british speedway(to me) is that there is very little reward and therefore no ambition to compete at the supposed highest level, and the derisory points limit this year has destroyed all credibility for the elite, which has now become some sort of 'fantasy league' where if you want to include the 'torres or ronaldo's' you have to balance it with some waster from mansfield town. sounds to me like middlo realised this and tried to influence young brits to' turn the tide'
and i say all power to him
