After the rain took another victim tonight (Ipswich v Poole), I've got to say how refreshing it was to watch the Wolves v Ippo P/O S/F from a couple of years ago - so much better than a re-run of the last GP they covered, as is the norm.
Well done Sky, and thanks!!

And I bloody missed it.....for the 2nd time!
First time I was travelling back from Scotland, this time I was picking up eldest son from a friends house!

I watched this, having never seen it before. :oI thought it was brilliant. I've only followed Speedway for the last two years, so now I'm beginning to understand things a bit more..I take it they dumped the camera on the bike idea?

That was much more like it from sky, much better than a repeat of a recent meeting. I got into Speedway during the 2004 season, but don't remember watching this first time round so was great to watch. More of the same with future rain offs please - though hopefully there won't be too many more.

I couldn't believe it when they announced they was showing this meeting. One of the greatest televised meetings ever, just a shame about the result. Still can't believe Scott went straight back to the pits tho. Just glad they didn't show the bit before the run-off when the Flapperjack was asking Scott and Hans who wanted to ride in it!

I have already got this meeting on DVD. Absolutely brilliant meeting. If I can remember the semi-finals were better the the actual final.

Wolves v Poole. Wolves had a stinker on their home patch and lost and then it was a formality at Wimbourne Rd. The season before - Coventry v Poole. Poole had a simply superb team. Absolute demolished 'em in the second leg despite some great racing. Even better was the Final of the KO Cup later that year.

But didn't it just illustrate how diluted the Elite League has become in just three short years?

But didn't it just illustrate how diluted the Elite League has become in just three short years? Just a tad. Poole's 2004 Winning Team were Kasprzak, Lindback, Sullivan, Ferjan, B.Pedersen, Zetterstrom, D.Davidsson. 4 of them are now or recently been EL heat leaders. Zetterstrom is no slouch either. The 2003 Final had POOLE - Rickardsson, Adams, Wiltshire/Loram (G), B.Pedersen, Watt, A.Dryml, Lindback COVENTRY - Hamill, Jonsson, Bunyan, Hancock, Fisher, Richardson, Robson Nearly of Poole's team have some experience as a heat leader at the top level Coventry have 4 heat leaders plus 2 PL heatleaders and then Fisher back when he averaging a good 5. How times have changed....

Just a tad. Poole's 2004 Winning Team were Kasprzak, Lindback, Sullivan, Ferjan, B.Pedersen, Zetterstrom, D.Davidsson. In fairness, though Kasprzak, Lindback and Pedersen are now better riders than they were then (well, maybe not in Linback's case!) giving a false impression of how strong the team actually would be compared to todays teams.
