And it's all over, with Stoke's Lee Complin winning. But the much-heralded match races between Chris Morten and Michael Lee didn't happen - Morten did some demonstration laps, which leaves one wondering if this was another of the infamous "no shows" from Lee. Let's hope not. And let's hope a huge crowd was there to witness it.

Very good meeting tonight and a really good sized crowd. Shame there were a few crashes that slowed things down - hope the riders are ok. Looked very nasty crashes for Hall and Mogridge. Great to see Garry Stead there and I'm not ashamed to admit I almost had a tear in my eye when he was reunited with the first aid people from Somerset that saved his life. Absolutely stunning ride by Lee Complin in the final to pass Lindgren. I'm sure Freddie thought he had gone wide enough to ensure no way round for Lee, but Complin just doesn't know when to give up and he scraped around him for what I thought was a thoroughly deserved win on the night. Complin is such a great rider to watch and I hope he continues to go from strength to strength in his impressive comeback season and future years. Rico

Rico I'm so glad we made the effort to go to this, it made the 3 hr sit on the motorway worth it, we only just made it for the start. A great meeting tinged with sadness, It was very emotional, I too was choked when Garry came out on track. Nightmare for poor Richard Hall, stretchered of after crashing on the second bend, just what he didn't need I hope he's ok. I've never been to Owlerton before and was really impressed with the stadium. The crowd was massive, some of the racing was brilliant, big cheer's when Lee Complin took Freddie Lindgren in the final ;D Big praise has to go all the riders who give their time for free, not just tonight but any other meeting like this. What a great sport Speedway can be

I'm led to believe Michael Lee had a fall whilst practising for his match races with Mighty Mort and hurt his groin.

update from MB, regarding Richard Hall's injuries:
Here a update...
Mick Bratley Fri Aug 24 2007, 02:10PM
I have just been informed that Richard will have an operation on his broken ankle tomorrow (Saturday). His Spleen is badly bruised, as is his Liver and Kidney's. His Pelvis is very badly fractured. He is in good spirits, but obviously in a lot of pain. I intend to visit him on Sunday afternoon hopefully. If you want to send him your wishes, email me at mick.bratley@bt.com and I will print them off and take with me.

Garry Stead has said he misses his speedway and would like to be involved in the sport once again. Some people have advised him against it, saying he's not yet ready for it, but he wants to get on with his life, and would like to help youngsters to develop their speedway careers. www.sportowefakty.pl
