Only because Dave "God" Perks had left two seasons beforehand. Actually, Rod Hunter was better around Oxford than Joe Owen... Hunter also scored a maximum at Oxford in 1984 at BRITISH League level (needless to say Nielsen and Wigg were missing that night). I reckon Hunter was a better rider that Owen. All the best Rob

Is the Zorro love affair with the Rebels about to come to an end . He is riding in Poland on Sunday instead of for the Rebels at Newport and is subsequently banned from riding in the Rebels home meeting against the IOW . If the Rebels now fail to qualify for the play-offs will they part company with their talisman .

Interesting stuff. An important play-off meeting for Gorzow in Poland tomorrow taking priority over a run-of-the-mill league meeting in the UK. But the knock on effects could be disastrous for Somerset, especially after losing at home to Sheffield yesterday.

SAd loss for the Zider Boyz - Zorro has always seemed pretty faithful to the UK. Hope fans understand the position riders are in regarding these clashes.

Losing at home to Sheffield makes this a bit more than a run of the mill meeting - and Friday's , for which he is now banned from riding in , is critical . I'm not belittling the Polish fixture , but i'm getting sick of our speedway playing second fiddle . If Zorro , or anyone else , decides that riding in Poland or wherever is more important then they should stick to riding there and leave our speedway to riders who are commited to British speedway .

I'll be interested to see if Somerest are allowed to use a facility for Zetterstrom at Newport tomorrow.... under the Berwick example, they shouldn't be.

If Zorro doesn't show up at Newport tomorrow then they have to use a 3 point conference leaguer , but the ambiguity arises for their next match against the IOW . If Zorro doesn't ride tomorrow he is then banned for the IOW meeting , but the Rebels are being allowed to use Tai Woffinden as a guest replacement .

Well, that'd be all Peter Waite needs to nail the BSPA over the Weirdity thing - no facility allowed for the Weirdity at home to Birmingham. And the Weirdity - and Truminski for that matter - at least had the excuse that as Poles they had an obligation to ride in their homeland, while Zetterstrom is Swedish and has obviously made a decision freely to ride for Gorzow.
