How many times have I, this season, been reminded by paulco's beloved Dick Barrie that Berwick's Stanislaw Burza's the reigning Scottish Open champion? Mr Barrie certainly made a point of mentioning it when the heathen Tigers visited the cruel, crazy town a couple of weeks ago. But "Stan the Man", or curiously "Stan the Burgler" to the Monarchs' presenter, isn't reigning Welsh Open champion and nor will he be the 2007 Welsh Open champion. How do I know that? Easy, he's not in the line-up. But the following riders are and could be Welsh Open Champion:
David Howe Ronnie Correy Andy Smith Ricky Ashworth Chris Holder Leigh Lanham Adam Shields Kamil Brzozowski Mark Lemon Lubos Tomicek Ryan Fisher Andre Compton (the Greater Compton) Eric Andersson Phil Morris Josef Franc Marek Mroz (a surprisingly easy Polish name to spell, possibly even to say)
Anyway, I think that young Stone has assembled a rather attractive line-up for this fixture. I guess that Newport's Polish sensation Michal Rajkowski has other plans for the weekend?

I dont think i've ever enjoyed an open meeting as much as this one - you dare'nt take your eyes off it for a second . Highlights for me were - Holder defying gravity on the 3rd and 4th bend , Holder's wall of death ride in his next race - in fact any race involving young Mr Holder was a joy to behold . Other highlights - Marek Mroz - absolutely mental this bloke - anyone who flies face first into the Newport face first then gets up and waves to the crowd has my upmost admiration . Mroz for Glasgow i say . Having a conversation in the bar with Sir Jim McMillan - i know i'm not worthy , but he was very pleasant . Then getting Dai Lager ( my welsh drinking buddy ) to say " Ronnie the rocket Correy " in a broad Scottish dialect was hilarious ( you had to be there ) ;D

These Poles really do bring something to the sport. Tomasz Piszcz invariably looked as if he was about to fall on every single bend and did take a tumble on an awful lot of them. Michal Rajkowski has breathed new life into the moribund Wasps of Newport. Stojanowski has his moments on the Isle of Wight, while Berwick's duo of Stanislaw Burza and Jacek Rempala have both impressed from time to time - Burza was immediately taken to by the Monarchs' supporters, if not his own in the cruel, crazy town. It was an awful long way for Mroz to travel for an open meeting and good luck to him in his search for a berth in British speedway. You begin to ask yourself whether a British youngster would be quite so keen to make an impression that he'd travel such a long way. It will be interesting to see how Sebastian Truminski gets along this weekend against the Diamonds.

And if we could bring these guys in on a 5 point average more promoters would take a chance on them and the Premier League would be a brighter place . Incidently if the PL includes Oxford , Reading , Hull , Cradley Heath , Exeter , Scunthorpe and any other waifs and strays it attracts would it not be a good idea to let Eastern Europeans in on a 5 average .

Just managed to get back on my PC after the weekends consumption, I too was at the Welsh Open and had every intention of going to Stoke but well........... and to the racing, did not think it was going to be on but eventully the sun shone on South Wales dustbowl. Chris Holder-well, he was truly awesome, how he stayed on at times, even he did not know when i spoke to him, truly awesome racing on on on the worst tracks in the country(but the friendly locals make up for it). Special mention to Marek Mroz who looked like he could do a job alongside his Weirdty and Burza. Interesting to note Sub that he had MSJ handlebar covers on his bike and was being closely watched by Stan and Jac and team MSJ. Who knows ? maybe this guy could end up in the cruel, crazy town.
Brillant meeting to end a awesome weekend.
And I met my auld mucker lager, lager, lager who was Scooby Doo

If Berwick sign Marek Mroz i would be more than tempted to make the occassional visit to the cruel crazy town even when Glasgow weren't there . And i had a few pints on Sunday with Mr Lager on Sunday myself .

Word from the GoldenVault is there will be no more beer tent there now.

Could that have been you in the white t-shirt speaking with him before the meeting paulco?
