BRENDAN TRANSFERRED TO POOLE HOSPITAL FOR OPERATION...
Following his crash whilst training for the 2016 season, a season he had been earmarked to captain the Wightlink Warriors in the National League, Brendan Johnson was transferred yesterday (21/3) to Poole General Hospital where he will undergo surgery on his broken left arm. Once that surgery has been completed, both he and the club should have a clearer idea as to how long he's likely to be sidelined and we'll obviously bring you any news on that as soon as possible.

ISLE OF WIGHT PRESS RELEASE COBRA'S GARAGE MAHAL EXTENDS ITS SPONSORSHIP
Former American Gladiator and huge speedway fan Steve Luxton, proprietor of Cobra's Garage Mahal located in Jupiter, Palm Beach County, Florida, has extended the garage's sponsorship of the Warriors.
Announcing this at the 3rd Annual Cobra's Garage Mahal party that was held last weekend Steve said, "I have been part of the Warriors for some time now, the momentum behind this club is gathering pace and Cobra's Garage Mahal very much wants to be part of that. We want the garage brand to symbolise progress in speedway and participating with the Warriors fits our ethos perfectly. With the 3rd annual Cobra's Garage Mahal party taking place last weekend, and with both Barry Bishop and Gary Ball from the club amongst the guests, we felt there was no better time to get further involved with the club and to increase the Wight Warriors and the Isle of Wight's profile here in Florida. The club already has a following here and I look forward to supporting its growth in the future and visiting the club this summer. Go Warriors."
Steve Luxton is such a big fan of speedway that he has put together a speedway museum out there in Florida and commenting from there Gary Ball, supremo of the 'My First Skid' training schools that will be held at our Smallbrook stadium said, "It's been great to see the enthusiasm for the Warriors here at the museum and now I cannot wait for the season to start. It's been a great weekend discussing MFS and the Warriors with like minded people."
Warriors Barry Bishop added, "This weekend we had the pleasure to discuss the Warriors and the Isle of Wight with some speedway greats, including former England international Sid Sheldrick who rode for a host of clubs in the late sixties and seventies, Finland's ex-Birmingham, Wimbledon and Swindon favourite Ari Koponen, Malcolm Brown who rode for Hackney and Leicester in his ten year career, and all round motorcycle expert Peter Vilacaro. They all were thrilled at the progress of the club's return and have pledged their support moving forward by joining our international support team. It was great to see Sid back on a bike and to hear of his adventures during his career and we cannot wait to welcome him to Smallbrook. Finally, we have to thank Steve Luxton and the Luxton family for being perfect hosts and the support of Cobra's Garage Mahal is extremely important to club and very much valued. We look forward seeing everyone at Smallbrook this season."
END
More international backing for the Wightlink Warriors from Cobra's Garage Mahal L to R: Gary Ball, Sid Sheldrick, Malcolm Brown, Ari Koponen, Steve Luxton and Barry Bishop.Attachments:

I have been told by a friend who lives on IoW that adult admission to speedway will be £13. That looks reasonable?

On the Isle of Wight website. My query - isn't Layne Cupitt linked in some way to Tai Woffinden? www.wightwarriors.co/news/107/layne-cupitt-joins-warriors
The Press Release reads: 12 August 2016
The Isle of Wight are certainly not sitting on their laurels, and are delighted to announce another new addition to the Warriors camp. After three impressive guest performances for the Island over the last week, the Warriors can now confirm the capture of 18 year Layne Cupitt. An Isle of Wight spokesman said, "Layne has certainly impressed the Warriors management over the last week, not only for his performances on track but also his whole attitude towards wanting to ride for this club, and the commitment that Layne has shown is exactly the type of riders that we want at our club."
Cupitt has also been a popular addition with not only the Warriors team members but also the Warriors supporters, and even riding as a guest rider already had the feel of a team member, and the whole Isle of Wight club are delighted with his capture.
Layne will make his full Isle of Wight debut away at Belle Vue next Wednesday which begins a busy period of four meetings in seven days.
Making way for Cupitt will be Tyler Govier, and the Isle of Wight Management would like to thank Tyler for all his efforts in this campaign, and are sure that he will get snapped up before too long, and we wish him all the best for the remainder of the season. We would also like to thank Chris Van Stratten for his help in releasing Layne from Cradley which enable the Isle of Wight to announce his signing today.

CRADLEY have snapped up Tyler Govier as a replacement for long-term injury victim James Purchase. Govier made 11 appearances for the Motor Market Heathens in 2015 before making the switch to the Isle of Wight this season. He put in some strong performances for the Warriors but lost his team place after suffering concussion in a heavy crash against the Heathens on August 4. The 20-year-old is now fighting fit and relishing the chance to don the famous Heathens race jacket once again. With the club desperately fighting to secure their place in the National League play-offs, Govier is determined to come in and play his part. “To be back with such a great club is a privilege and I’m really looking forward to it,” Govier said. “Being dropped by the Isle of Wight was a bit of a disappointment given the way my season was going, but injuries took their toll a bit. “I think things have worked out better now, being back with Cradley, and I’m delighted to get the opportunity. “My main aim is to come in and score a few points to help Cradley win some more meetings. Hopefully we can do enough to get into the play-offs then take it from there.” Govier will make his Cradley return as they travel to Kent on Monday (6.30) before hosting Stoke at Monmore Green on Tuesday (7.30).

THE Isle of Wight have confirmed the signing of heat-leader Nathan Greaves as they continue to build for the 2017 National League season.
The Warriors have also handed Tyler Govier a return, probably in a reserve berth, after spending much of this year’s campaign with the club.
Team boss Jackie Vatcher said: “It's not a secret that Nathan was hot property this winter and for the Island to capture him is further proof that we mean business in 2017.
“Nathan only turns 19 prior to the start of the new season, so he is still in the early stages of his career, but he has the experience of four seasons of racing behind him already. So, an old head already but on very young shoulders.
“It was unfortunate how Tyler's season ended with the Warriors last season but there is no doubting his ability to win races, especially around Smallbrook. We aim to make our home venue a fortress in 2017 and Tyler's inclusion will be key to that.”Attachments:

From the SGB website: ::::: THE Isle of Wight have announced Harland Cook will return to the sport in a reserve berth with the Warriors next season.
28-year-old Cook has previous experience at National League level from spells with Sittingbourne and Rye House, and has continued to enjoy success in grasstrack racing.
Warriors manager Jackie Vatcher said: “We tried to get Harland on board last season but unfortunately it was not possible. So, for us now to be able to get our number one reserve target, everyone at the club is delighted.
“Harland does have a bit of speedway experience but we will give him a few meetings to get dialled in then we are confident he will be a trump card for the Warriors and replicate his grass success on the shale.”

From the SGB website: ::::::: ISLE of Wight have completed their National League side with the signing of Rikki Mullins.
The 28-year-old returns to the Warriors having previously rode for the club between 2009-2011.
Mullins said: "I'm delighted to be back on the island after a few years away.
“It's a club that I have always enjoyed being involved with and already I have been made to feel very welcome by Team Manager Jackie Vatcher and co-promoter Barry Bishop.
“I am really looking forward to meeting some new and familiar faces throughout the year. I have heard so many good things since the club has re-opened and it's something I really want to be a part of again and I can't wait to get back on track for the Warriors.
“I know that my last spell with the club didn't quite go as well everyone had hoped, but this time I am confident that we can hit the ground running with some decent scores so that I can force my way into the main body of the team."
Warriors Team Boss Jackie Vatcher added: "We have been patient regards the signing of Rik as we wanted to make sure that everything was in place before speaking to him.
“Now that it is and we have agreed for Rik to return back to the Island we are delighted to welcome him on board with the Warriors.
“As most people will know, Rik is no stranger to the Smallbrook circuit so hopefully that will help him settle in to one of the reserves birth quickly."
