CURRENTLY ON THE COVENTRY WEBSITE :::::::::::::: THE next two names to be announced for Chris Harris's Testimonial at Brandon on Sunday March 20 are JASON GARRITY and MAX FRICKE.
Coventry fans' favourite Garrity has made the big step up into the main body of the Buildbase Bees side for the forthcoming season as well as returning to double-up with Premier League side Sheffield.
He joined the Tigers mid-way through the 2015 season after electing initially to forgo the Premier League leaving Rye House to concentrate on his Elite League racing. He was an instant success at Sheffield and finished top of their averages in 2015 with a 8.46 figure, scoring 201 points in 20 matches.
Jason started riding in 2009, joining Buxton after becoming the British Under-15 Champion in 2008, and won the league title with the Hitmen the following season. He was British Under-19 Champ in 2011 and also won the National League Riders' Championship the same year.
Now in his third season at Coventry he really wanted to ride in the meeting and said: "Chris has done so much to help me and has been a great skipper. When I got back from my holiday in Australia I was straight on the phone asking to be included."
Chris commented: "How could I not include Jase? He is such a character and the fans love him.”
Meanwhile Fricke is a popular visitor to Brandon especially after his efforts as a guest for the Bees regularly in 2014 and more occasionally last year.
The Belle Vue rider, three times Australian Under-21 Champion in 2013-15, first came to the UK in 2013 spending two seasons with Edinburgh and taking a league winners medal in 2014, also being one half of the Monarchs' PL Pairs winners that same year.
The 19 year old is highly rated and will undoubtedly be a spoiler in the meeting which promises to be a humdinger looking at the line-up so far.
Chris believes that it will be a meeting not to miss: "I can’t believe at the response from the lads who have agreed to ride, the line-up is looking very juicy! Adding Max to it is another good capture as the lad rides Coventry so well."
LINE-UP SO FAR Nicki Pedersen Andreas Jonsson Rory Schlein Kyle Howarth Kenneth Hansen Edward Kennett Kacper Woryna Jason Doyle Mikkel Bech Bjarne Pedersen Scott Nicholls Niels-Kristian Iversen Max Fricke Jason Garrity

From the Coventry website:: ::::::
COVENTRY will parade new British Champion Danny King ahead of Friday’s important Elite League clash with King’s Lynn at Brandon (7.30pm).
King took a sensational victory in Monday’s British Final at the National Speedway Stadium, which also books him a place as Wild Card in the British Grand Prix next month.
But it is now back to business for the Buildbase Bees, who go into a run of matches against teams in the lower half of the table.
Friday sees King’s Lynn make their first visit of the season to Brandon, and Bees then face two big away matches with a return clash against the Stars next Wednesday in Norfolk, followed by the trip to bottom club Leicester on June 27.
Positive results in those matches could significantly enhance their position, as although Bees have won their last three home fixtures, they have so far taken just one league point on the road.
They are set to be at full strength on Friday with Josh Bates returning after missing the last five matches due to a combination of international duty and injury, whilst Jason Garrity also lines up despite his crash at Belle Vue on Monday which did lead to fears over an arm injury. New averages result in James Sarjeant moving up into the main body of the team for the first time.
Coventry promoter Mick Horton said: “We are all so proud of Danny, and it really was a great moment on Monday for everyone connected with the club.
“It couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy in this sport. It’s richly deserved, and in my opinion the ‘nearly man’ has finally got it right.
“He’s on-form at the moment, around Brandon he really is good, and I’m looking forward to meeting up with him on Friday. It should be a tremendous evening.
“We’ll get Danny paraded around before the King’s Lynn match, and I know the crowd will come out in force to congratulate him.”
King’s Lynn are led by Grand Prix superstar Niels-Kristian Iversen, who recently clinched a fifth successive Danish crown, and they also include 18-year-old Robert Lambert, who joined King on the rostrum at Belle Vue in third place.
The Stars have not raced for a fortnight and have yet to win on the road in 2016, but they did draw at Leicester and also picked up a good away point at Wolverhampton recently. Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen makes his first appearance for the Stars.
BUILDBASE BEES (from): Josh Bates, Jason Garrity, Chris Harris, Krzysztof Kasprzak, Danny King, James Sarjeant, Kacper Woryna. KING’S LYNN (from): Troy Batchelor, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Nikolaj B Jakobsen, Mads Korneliussen, Robert Lambert, Simon Lambert, Lewis Rose.
*FRIDAY’S programme will be a re-issue of the edition previously produced for the postponed Buildbase Bees v Stars fixture earlier in the season.
It includes a four-page insert with Friday’s racecard and latest updated club news.
As a result, the programme price has been reduced for this meeting to £2.50.

From the SGB website: :::::::::::: www.speedwaygb.co/news.php
COVENTRY Speedway have appointed Jim Lynch as their new team manager going into the 2017 SGB Premiership season.
Lynch takes over from Gary Havelock, who left the Buildbase Bees last month after four years in charge to front up a new consortium in charge of Championship club Berwick.
The Bees’ new boss is no stranger to Brandon as that was the venue where he first watched the sport, and he spent around 20 years as a supporter on the terraces at Coventry before becoming involved professionally.
Lynch enjoyed major success as a promoter and team manager at Peterborough in 1998-2003, an era which saw the Panthers win titles at both Premier and Elite League levels.
He came close to repeating the feat in charge of Reading in 2006, missing out in one of the all-time classic Grand Finals, and his most recent stint in management was with Belle Vue four years ago.
Lynch said: “I’ve always got on well with the people at Coventry, and in fairness when Mick (Horton) approached me it was probably the only place I would have done it.
“I didn’t really have to think much about it, it was just a case of setting out the way we both wanted things to be done, and there haven’t been any issues in any of our discussions. “I don’t see being out for a few years as a problem, I haven’t been out of it that long and speedway really doesn’t change much, be it with riders or promoters.
“In fact, I’ve come back at a time when certain rules such as the race format have reverted back to when I was doing it before, and if anything some of the regulations which came in over the last two or three years didn’t make the manager’s job that easy.
“I’m really looking forward to it, more-so because of it being Coventry. I’m very enthusiastic to get started, I know the Coventry fans want success and that’s what we’ll be looking to deliver.” Lynch and Horton have already held discussions over possible options for team-building in the wake of this week’s BSPA AGM, which saw a 50-point limit imposed on top-flight teams.
And Horton is looking forward to resuming a working relationship with Lynch which dates right back to the early days of the Elite League when they were part of the same consortium in charge at Peterborough.
Horton said: “Jim is experienced and knowledgeable, and he has a lot of respect from riders. We had some applications, but the more I thought about it the more I felt this would be right for the club.
“Even when I was running Peterborough I knew he always had a soft spot for Coventry, as they were both his local clubs. We got together to sort out the deal and we’re both very happy.
“My job now is to build the team, we’ve got an idea who we want, and naturally we want a team that’s going to compete at the top.”?extend.31560Attachments:

From the SGB website: :::: COVENTRY have announced the double signing of Lasse Bjerre and Josh Bates for their SGB Premiership team.
Bjerre joins his elder brother Kenneth at Brandon whilst Bates is back for a second season in Bees colours.
Promoter Mick Horton said: “Seven of the nine clubs came in for Josh, so I feel very good about myself that he wanted to stay with us.
“He came on in leaps and bounds this year and I think he’s only going to get better still.
“I know Lasse wasn’t happy at Redcar last season, but he’s going to be totally committed here and I think having Kenneth around him in the same team is going to help greatly.
“It went well for them the last time they rode together in the same side, and you know that with the family investment and all that goes with it they’re going to be on top equipment.”

From the SGB website: :::: COVENTRY have completed their team-building for the SGB Premiership with two returning riders and one new face for 2017.
The Bees have retained the services of club assets Jason Garrity and James Sarjeant, whilst also moving for Lewis Kerr who rode for Lakeside in the Elite League this year.
Promoter Mick Horton said: “I’ve always admired Lewis, and if I’m honest I’ve always felt that he can do more. Every season you look for riders who you think can improve their average – Kenneth Bjerre, for example, will improve his average, and Lewis Kerr is another one.
“Jason is really keen, he’s got new equipment lined up and we know what a popular rider he is with the crowd. There’s no reason why he can’t keep on moving up next year.
“Sarj knows he needs to step it up a gear in the Premiership, we know he has the ability and I do feel this formation overall will work in our favour, when you look at what is out there on that sort of average.”Attachments:

From the SGB website: ::::: THE following two statements have been issued regarding the future of Coventry Speedway:
We publish here two statements which have been issued on Wednesday following late-night talks between Cllr Stokes and Avtar Sandhu on Tuesday November 29. Supporters will also be aware that the Coventry promoter, Mick Horton, is currently out of the country but has naturally been involved in the process.
Cllr Stokes has issued the following statement:
Following the issues over the last few days, I again offered to facilitate talks between the interested parties. I am pleased to say that both Mr Sandhu and Mr Horton were both very receptive to holding further discussions and engaged fully.
This has been a very difficult and complicated situation and neither Sandhu or Horton own the land and there were some legalities at play around the end of leases. Of course the actions over the last few days have been concerning to local residents and fans and have been widely reported on social media and in the local news outlets.
However, after listening fully to both sides, it was seen as a necessary step in order to protect the assets. I am confident this was neither a negotiating tactic or an act of spite.
Talks were difficult and went on well into the night. Both Sandhu and Horton have a clear passion for motorsport and Brandon Stadium and through this passion both parties were able to overcome the contractual issues.
Therefore, I am very pleased to say I was able to successfully facilitate talks that led to an agreement being reached by both parties. Mr Sandhu has agreed to put the stadium back to an operational state and both stock cars and The Bees will be racing at the stadium in 2017.
I would now call upon all the fans and supporters to rally round your teams and show your support in 2017. This is an exceptional reprieve and an opportunity that should not be wasted.
Coventry Racing Club Ltd have issued the following statement:
Last night Mr Sandhu held late night talks with Councillor Stokes to broker a deal to protect his assets and to allow the Stock Cars and Speedway to continue at the stadium. A deal was reached for the next 3 years for the continuation of Speedway and Stock Cars after an intense night of negotiations.
The deal was worked on overnight and it has been confirmed this morning that all parties are happy with the resulting agreement. Mr Sandhu has agreed to replace all the assets and reinstate the stadium fit to run next season at his cost. He has agreed to fund this because he loves speedway and stock racing with a deep wish to see it continue for the next three years and beyond at a new facility. He would have rather signed the agreement weeks ago but it was important that the partnership between Stox and speedway using the building continued as one would fail without the other so his actions were always to protect not just his assets but also both sports.
The agreement would at this stage never happened without Cllr Michael Stokes who has gone beyond what ever could have been expected and has managed to keep both sides in dialogue rather than allowing it to fall apart publicly. We will continue to work closely with Cllr Stokes on finding, securing and eventually building a replacement facility as we are now on a clock for the eventual closure of the stadium. Our commitment to make this happen is undiminished and if anything it has made us as a group more determined to make it happen.
Lastly we would like to say how pleased we are that the employees, contractors, and suppliers have a secure future for the next three years as many have worked on site for decades so this uncertainty has hurt them the most. Without these people we would find it impossible to run the stadium to the current high standards and they have proved that they too have gone beyond what could be expected which we will never forget.
We welcome our renewed relationship with Cllr Stokes, Mick Horton and the Coventry Bees as an opportunity to grow stronger together and to tackle the future jointly.
