P.S. I'm interested that you "hate" Alonso. I'm quite surprised, he's never got tangled up in anything controversial, he seems a fairly nice guy (although he does despise losing), he's a damn good racing driver (although apparently not as good as Lewis Hamilton), etc. What exactly do you hate about Alonso - just curious. ;D ;D Isn't it funny going over past quotes? Schumi - things change over time. At one point (around 1997) I actually liked Schumacher. Unfortunately, then came Jerez....

But I've realised it's not Lewis I dislike, it's the sheep. So many people have come out of the woodwork claiming to be fans of the Brit, yet they haven't got a clue about F1. Lewis has driven well and thoroughly deserves the praise, but when it came down to it he just didn't have enough to finish the job. Hopefully he's learned a valuable lesson this year. It does amuse me when people claim to be fans of Lewis, and then know fuck all about F1 - not understanding safety cars, pitstops, qualifying, etc As for Lewis, he did brilliantly this year - in fact, he broke all the records for a F1 rookie. Give the lad a year or two, and as long as the car is competitive, he'll be hard to beat. I reckon he might be in for a tough second season. I honestly can't see anyone getting near Kimi in 2008, now he's got the boost of a World Championship behind him.

Schumi, I can honestly say I have never seen a post of yours that I thought you would be eating your words over. It does not really matter as Rob claims, that often fans whether it be Hamilton or any other sportsman need to know anything about the sport as such. Its now all about celebrity. That is what its all about which it has always been and the 'sheep' that go with it. Though now with so much televised its all taken on different proportions. When 80,000 turn up at Donington for the MotoGp 60,000 come to see Rossi and 95% of them know sod all about motorcycle racing. During the race, if another rider scratches his arse off to pass him they actually boo him. He dares to pass Rossi which is their only connection they actually have with the sport. Its more about a statement of the type of world we live in, rather than any particular sport that we as enthusiasts follow.

Jim - sod that, if I follow something I make sure I know what's going on in it. It may be the type of world we live in, but I don't have to go along with it. I dislike all these shite celebrity programmes - Celebrity Come Dancing; Celebrity Big Brother; I'm A Celebrity, Please Shoot Me; Celebrity Nose Pocking, etc. The sooner everyone realises what a load of crap it all is, the better.

Something strange about watching has been,s , and washed up ex celebs desperately trying to rekindle former glories, a bit like the last 4-5 years of Sam Ermolenko,s career. Sad as he was one of my hero,s.

I have to say I agree with Jim, F1 isn't a sport, it's a spectacle and it has been for years.
Exotic locations like Monaco have always attracted the beautiful people, but when you get Hollywood movie stars rocking up to shitholes like Hungary, you know it's got out of hand!
And what's all this bollocks about Hamilton writing a book, he hasn't lived a life yet!!!

Lewis Hamilton moves to the home of the Cuckoo clock makers to avoid the constant hassle of the press and fans etc, bullshit I know, lets go on the Parkinson show that will be low profile and keep my face out the news, cash in on the Christmas book market with a book release, must have enroled on the "Posh and Becks" course of publicity manipulation. Just be honest and say you left for the money.

Lewis takes on the Stig, on top gear this Sunday 8pm... Got to be worth a watch... Showed his mettle didn't he, 2/10ths off Mansell's dry time on a wet and oily track, driving with one hand and singing! I was glad they put that sequence in the same show as Hammond nearly coping with driving an F1 car, it hopefully gave some armchair experts a proper insight into what an F1 driver has to, and can, deal with.

They showed it again on BBC Breakfast this morning ....What a top bloke!...
