I seem to remember that was Rico throwing his toys about and saying that if he wasn't the wildcard then he wouldn't go at all

Random thoughts... Chris Schramm lays his bike down avoiding a fallen Bummer and is excluded; why? Obviously, as the least well-known of the riders he was the easiest to exclude. A shameful display of refereeing all around. Sad to see the screaming imbecile so traumatised by the absence of "Wuffy, Wuffy, Wuffy" that he resorted to an ill-conceived case for a home track "wild card" at the meeting (had the meeting been staged at Poole, who'd be the Wild Card? Artur Mrozcka or Leon "I've got a dodgy silencer" Madsen?) and took a world championship away from Briggo (who won FOUR, not three). The meeting itself was, in modern parlance, pants and the strength of the field was shocking and illustrates just how weak British speedway now is.

The field was poor but the meeting was extremely enjoyable, speedway IS an individual sport and league clubs should put on a lot more individual meetings. Nine clubs riding each other again and again and again is just too tedious for words. Big mention last night for Chris Harris a deserved winner and to Schumi's man for making the semi. Nice to see Subedei return, i just hope the tail doesn't hit him in the bollocks.....

Schramm's exclusion was extremely bizarre, didn't understand that one at all, neither at the track or rewatching the Sky coverage yesterday. As for the meeting, I'm not sure why so many people thought it was a bad meeting. I enjoyed it (altough few people would have known I was there in my cunning disguise I gave Rico a bit of a shock as well ). Some cracking racing as well, there was one race when the riders in 2nd, 3rd and 4th were overtaking on every bend until Unsteady (put that in just for you old chap ) fell, and that the semi-final battle between King & Kennett was a terrific race. OK, not a great line-up, but the riders on show served up some good entertainment.
