Coventry captain Chris Harris has quashed rumours of a winter move to Poole, despite some supporters slating his performances at Brandon.
The Team Great Britain international led the Bees to the Elite League play-off semi-finals, where they lost out to Swindon by just 12 points – including Robins’ eight-point head-start.
His side also reached the Knock-Out Cup Final, but Lakeside thrashed them 108-77 on aggregate. Harris will have been disappointed with his performance in the first leg at the Arena-Essex Raceway, where he bagged a poor two paid three from four outings.
But the 2009 Grand Prix racer has still recorded an 8.74 average – the tenth highest in the Elite League.
Harris has also won two league titles, two Knock-Out Cups, two Craven Shields and the Elite League Best Pairs since he joined Coventry in 2004.
Despite this, some fans have questioned his ability to lead the Bees again in 2010. However, Harris remains determined to return.
He told the Speedway Star: “It has been a hard year, and I know some fans haven’t been pleased with my performances around Coventry.
“Some feel I’m not a deserving No.1 and captain but I can’t do anything about that opinion. All I can say is that I always go out there and give my best for the club.
“I hope to be back, although obviously it all depends on the management and who they want here, and what rules are brought in.”
Harris has also hit out at claims he has relocated his workshop back to his native Cornwall and is pondering a move to Poole for next year.
He added: “There have been rumours that I’m going to Poole, and apparently I’ve got a new workshop down in Cornwall, but that’s the first I’ve heard of it.
“My workshop and house is up here (Coventry) so I don’t want to be doing that trip from Cornwall all the time. It was too tiring when I did that a few years ago.”

I can't imagine Harris moving on from Coventry - isn't he part of the furniture now?
