Lots of reasons to be honest! True, but as they've been doing it this early for as long as I can remember, I feel my post is justified.

Not many nominations this week. Anyone got anything else to throw into the pot?

I would like to nominate the Poole fans who cheered when Craig Cook pulled out of the Bournemouth v Plymouth match on Wednesday. Cheering because a rider is hurt - disgraceful stuff.

Ahhhhh, that is slightly different then I must admit, although, just seen what I thought were Xmas decorations in a house opposite my son's, and it turns out they are "Halloween" decorations

Wasn't there, but agree 100% - cheering if a rider falls or even worse has withdrawn through injury of some sort is completely out of order. It usually provokes foul language and a complete losing of temper from me if I hear it at a track... Which is perhaps just as bad, but at least its more justified. On the topic of Craig Cook do we know what was wrong with him? He doesn't seem to have the best of luck riding at Poole, I think he withdrew there before through illness.

Not many nominations this week. Anyone got anything else to throw into the pot? Yes, I have, as a matter of fact. I nominate Tony Steele for once again showing what a quarterwit the Sky-proclaimed "greatest referee in speedway" is. In last night's fixture at the West Lothian trick track it seems Steele managed to allow Edinburgh's Aaron Summers to have eight rides. Steele never did have much of an understanding of the rule book, or the sport. Should never be allowed to referee again.

This time, he looked out of sorts after his prang with Mark Baseby. From memory, I think he had some damage to his rib area and withdrew from the meeting at the same time as Mark. As for some of our more cerebrally challenged fans, I can only apologise.

Munners, I know that you are hardly going to choose your own club ;D, but is it true that the peskies don't have an end of season shindig/dinner dance/piss up type event Regrettably Badge, it's true! We had a dinner dance organised for 17th October, but take up for tickets was much slower than last year, and we had lots of feedback from fans saying that they wanted to attend, but just couldn't afford it. We'd already kept tickets at the same price as last year, and the venue wouldn't move on the cost, so we cancelled it and arranged a presentation and disco in the bar at the track. Unfortunately, we organised that for 16th October, to take place after our Challenge with Rye House which was subsequently cancelled due to the Rockets making it through to the Young Shield Final so that didn't happen either. We did have a thoroughly enjoyable evening on Wednesday though, when the riders turned up to collect their KOC trophies and spent the whole evening posing for photo's and signing autographs for fans. It was absolutely packed, with a great atmosphere and a really good night was had by all!

Flapperjack of the week Some decent nominations this week. I'm also disgusted with fans who cheer when riders fall or are withdrawn through injury. Absolutely no need for that, but unfortunately you do get idiotic minorities and the sad fact is, they probably think to get nominated is, in itself, an achievement. For that reason, I'm not going to give the award to them. I can also see where Schumi is coming from on the 'early Christmas' nomination. I haven't seen any decorations up yet, but I'm already fed up with them moving everything around in Tesco's so that they can fit in all the Christmas merchandise! However, as some have pointed out, there are often good reasons for people to celebrate early in their own homes. So, this week, even though this didn't actually appear in the Flapperjack thread, I'm giving the award to these heartless, brainless thugs : news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Teenage-Girl-Devastated-After-A-Thug-Kicks-Her-10-Week-Old-Puppy-To-Death-In-Cambridgeshire-Park/Article/200910415422315?lid=ARTICLE_15422315_TeenageGirlDevastatedAfterAThugKicksHer10-WeekOldPuppyToDeathInCambridgeshirePark&lpos=searchresultsWords absolutely fail me

Good call.
If and when they catch the scum that did this and find them guilty, don't lock them up in some cushy institution, they ought to put 'em up the wall then up the chimney.

Thanks Munners.
That concludes the FOTW for the 2009 season.
We'll be starting up again in mid-March 2010, but we will have "The Flapperjack of 2009" which will run throughout December with the winner declared on New Year's Eve.

I'm sorry, but much as I like Lewis Bridger as a talent, I have to nominate him (are we still able to rant even though the thread's finished?) for this little gem, from speedwaygp.com:
Team Great Britain international Lewis Bridger is determined to secure some regular meetings in Poland for 2010, as he bids to take his career to the next level.
The British Under-21 champion is one year into a three-year contract with Ekstraliga outfit Czestochowa. But the 19-year-old became disillusioned with the club after riding just four of the 15 meetings he says he was promised per season.
Bridger admits he will be seeking talks with the Lions in the coming weeks to gain assurances that he will receive his contracted dates in 2010.
He said: “Eight meetings in Poland is not a good record for three years out there. I’ve only had three home meetings ever at Czestochowa and I’ve had about five away meetings.
“My Grandad and I are going out there in the next couple of weeks. I’ve got another two years there and I’ve got 15 meetings in my contract per season.
“So I’m going to put it down to them that if I don’t ride in those 15 league meetings, they have to pay me say four points for my travel. At least then at the end of the year, I won’t be broke for not racing there.
“You can’t ever guarantee anything in Poland – they make their rules up as they go along. But I need to be racing out there next year and I’ll make that clear when I go out there in the next couple of weeks.”
He added: “If I sit down with Czestochowa and they say ‘you will definitely have the 15 meetings’, I’ll want to know the dates and the time I’m out there straight away.
“Then I’ll be going to every meeting – simple as that. I’m not having ‘you’re not racing this weekend.’ If they’ve promised me I’m racing those dates, I’m going there.”
Bridger admits he had to pay his equipment bill out of his earnings with British Elite League club Eastbourne.
But the rider says this has been far from ideal, as he admits Polish clubs pay three or four times that of a British team.
He added: “I only finished with four meetings in Poland and that really has affected my bank balance this year. It’s not great at all. I’ve had three or four new engines this season – that’s £20,000 alone.
“They’re all out of my earnings and I’ve had to pay for them out of what I’ve earned in Britain and pay for everything else – mechanics, expenses and living. It leaves you with nothing at the end of it.”
What's the big deal with Poland, money aside? Doesn't he know the Poles tell everyone else what to do, not the other way around? It'll be no use him going there and throwing his weight around demanding this and that. And hasn't he learned anything from his ban?
