You must have read: Trevor Swales' men fell short in their pursuit of the Elite League play-offs this season and have high hopes of winning this end-of-season competition which also features Wolverhampton. Panthers began with victory at Coventry and team boss Swales insists it is vital they follow-up on home shale. Swales said: "We had a really good start in the competition when winning and now we need to build on that. Winning the Midland League would certainly be a good way to end what has been a hard year. "Everyone is seriously disappointed to have missed out on the play-offs, but that is now in the past and we need to concentrate on looking forward. That means doing everything we can to finish on a high before planning for 2010." Star-of-the-season Kenneth Hansen returns after more than a month out with concussion and whiplash while new October averages mean Ales Dryml goes back into the main body of the team with Claus Vissing moving in the opposite direction to reserve. so there's at least one And it'll still be better than the ELRC! www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/speedway/Panthers-hoping-to-make-up.5694493.jpIt'll be nice to hear the star of the season's thoughts after the meeting as the team say their goodbyes in front of the stand to all of the paying public (along with the new reserve) - unfortunately part of that's not going to happen unless we get a VC link to the states.

I bet Wolves are pleased that they agreed to this now, 15 individual minutes of sheer agony for Adams who'll want a full and fit squad for Monday's 2nd leg and what should be the EL title.

Peterborough Panthers bring their 2009 home programme to a close with a visit from the Parry’s International Wolves.
Supporters will need no reminding that this club are currently going head to head with Swindon for the 2009 Elite League title, are in good form and will provide the Panthers with a stern task on Thursday.
Captain Peter Karlsson has made a quick return from a broken collarbone and forms a potent spearhead with Fredrik Lindgren and Tai Woffinden, all three ride the Showground well and they are well supported by Adam Skornicki and Nicolia Klindt.
Panthers as previously mentioned will be without Kenneth Hansen and Claus Vissing who both have commitments previously agreed before the club agreed to the Midland League and the Panthers will be using the clubs no 8 Andrew Tully at reserve for Vissing and will be operating rider replacement for Hansen.
A fireworks display bringing the meeting to an end will take place at the conclusion of the racing and the winning teams parade.

Panthers set for a cracking finish at home
PANTHERS could not have picked tougher opponents for their final home meeting of the season tonight. The city side have won home and away against Coventry so far in the end-of-season competition but tonight host Elite League favourites Wolverhampton at Alwalton (7.30pm). Wolves beat Swindon by 16 points in the first leg of the Grand Final on Monday. Panthers' task has been made all the harder by the absence of Kenneth Hansen and Claus Vissing who had already agreed to compete in America when the Midland League dates were set. The city side have therefore been given permission to use rider replacement for Hansen and have brought in Jesper Kristiansen of Premier League side Stoke for Vissing. Initially Panthers' number eight Andrew Tully was going to deputise for Vissing but he aggravated an injury in a crash at Edinburgh last Friday so Danish rider Kristiansen has been brought in. Wolves boast a potent top three of captain and former Panthers number one Peter Karlsson - who has made a quick return from a broken collarbone - Fredrik Lindgren and Tai Woffinden. All three ride the Showground well and they will be well supported by Adam Skornicki and Nicolai Klindt. Wolves won the Elite League A fixture 49-41 at the Showground earlier in the season but Panthers gained revenge with a 51-45 success in the B fixture - Lindgren scoring 15 points in each meeting. Promoter Mick Bratley is excited by the prospect of a great meeting and is hoping for a winning finish at the Showground. He said: “It looks set to be a cracker and could be against the Elite League champions, especially if current form is anything to go by. We obviously want to finish our home campaign with a win and I see no reason why we can’t do this as long as we perform to our true potential.”
The return fixture takes place at Wolverhampton on Monday October 26.
Panthers: 1 Niel Kristian Iversen; 2 Ales Dryml; 3 Rider replacement for Kenneth Hansen; 4 Kenneth Bjerre; 5 Mads Korneliussen; 6 Jesper Kristiansen; 7 Henning Bager.
Wolves: 1 Freddie Lindgren; 2 Nicolai Klindt; 3 Adam Skornicki; 4 Tai Woffinden; 5 Peter Karlsson; 6 Chris Kerr; 7 Ty Proctor.

Will the Midland League survive? Come along to watch the last fixture of the season. Will there be a decent rider presentation? Will there be a victory parade? (will Panthers win, does anyone apart from TS care that much ), will there be goodbyes in front of the stand? - so many questions, be there or be square Well we had a different presentation which would have worked if we had bikes at the tapes but for some reason we chose not to do that? So credit for the round the track parade but perhaps we were time conscious which in the end proved to be a big issue. The racing wasn't too bad before the nasty crash in which the unfortunate Henning Bager was left nowhere to go at high speed on turn 1 and he picked up a reported nasty injury or possibly injuries? Iversen and the superb Karlsson being the picks for me before it was abandoned after 12. Nothing else for paying punters in the stand apart from fireworks. Traditionally speeches etc would be made to the majority but Peterborough focuses on the minority in the after match forum as the evening just seems to drift away and one feels somewhat short changed. A proper start, middle and finish might encourage more people to attend? That's my opinion and what I would do different! edited following a night's sleep

I thought it was a great meeting (up until it was abandoned) - some great racing.....a fantastic heat 10 where Puk came from 4th to 1st and all 4 riders were 4 abreast coming round turn 4 ...just brilliant !

Bager has a broken thigh..... what a sad ending for his Panthers season...... I was actually in the toilet so didn't see the crash...but was quite glad i didn't from what everyone was saying...... 2 things I don't understand....? 1) Why was there only 1 paramedic there? 2) Why was heat 12 awarded? I guess because realistically they were not going to be able to re-stage this meeting so thought they might as well.....?

That's my opinion and what I would do different! Positive as ever Riggers ! If you say everything is wonderful then nothing changes and you may have noticed that we want more fans to attend. We sit there every week and witness the same. They may not want to hear it but if someone who knows the history and legacy doesn't speak out then how will they know? They may not act on it but can't say that they don't know why? We all know that a winning team gets the punters in but that only usually works for a year to 15 months in speedway
