Into the abyss...
Returning to the theme of average manipulation, Golem Drury has had his say and in fairness we should also put it on the forum:
BIRMINGHAM Speedway co-promoter and team manager Graham Drury has hit back at an official complaint against the club by fellow Premier League outfit King’s Lynn.
The Norfolk management have made strong representations to the British Speedway Promoters’ Association about the absence of BRC Roofing Brummies ace Tomasz Piszcz from the mid-week Premier Trophy clash between the teams.
Piszcz was ruled out through injury – but the Stars, who are promoted by father and son duo Keith (otherwise known as ‘Buster’) and Jonathan Chapman apparently suspect foul play over the issue of Birmingham’s new set of team building averages.
In response, Drury has stated the following:
“I have written to the management of King’s Lynn Speedway with the following observations:
Buster / Jonathan – You really do show yourselves up.
You go on the microphone prior to our match at Kings Lynn and state that I am trying to fiddle the averages with Tomasz Piszcz not riding.
You go in the local press, and apparently internet accusing me of the same.
You produce on the said match, a set of our averages and distributed them during the event.
You lodge an official complaint to the BSPA.
Obviously, you were not at the same AGM as the rest of the BSPA. To jog your memory can I suggest you have a look at the minutes of day 2 ELM/1115/08/02 16d. Where it states "utilising a minimum of eight (8) matches should be used to monitor a proposed team change"
So obviously ALL your allegations regarding Tomasz Piszcz is utter nonsense. As he has already done ten (10) matches, when Birmingham have completed 6 home and 6 away Tomasz’s will be applicable whether he had ridden at Kings Lynn or not.
Also as a matter of clarity, in your official complaint and press release, you state we have done 12 matches, and that our new set of averages will come into effect next Wednesday. AGAIN wrong on both counts, we have done 11 matches, and if we are not rained off on Wednesday 13th, our new set of averages will come into effect on May 20th.
Regarding Birmingham having an extra 1.12 advantage in rebuilding our team is also a load of nonsense and lies.
I really do enjoy my trips to Kings Lynn, and last Wednesday was no exception.”

Note should be made of the comment "I suggest you have a look at the minutes of day 2 ELM/1115/08/02 16d. Where it states "utilising a minimum of eight (8) matches should be used to monitor a proposed team change."
What the hell does that mean?
What sort of nonsense is "monitor" and "proposed team change"? Does it mean that averages after eight (8) meetings are the criteria for team changes and, if so, why the hell not issue GSAs after eight (8) matches?
