Edinburgh Monarchs 3 R/R for the " invisible speedway rider " How is the SVEMO agreement going to cover this one this time, seeing as the Swedish season doesn't start for a month. This bloke is taking British Speedway for a ride. It's time he was told to sling his hook.

You are so dramatic Genghis, you think everyone is taking the piss, its no-ones business but Edinburgh's, they are the ones that employ him, so if they are happy, what business is it of British speedway as a whole ?

That depends, hatcham. I have no problem with Jonasson going off willy nilly for whatever reason and I have no problem with Edinburgh allowing him to do so. But the problem arises when it comes to facilities afforded the club. In this instance, I believe that Edinburgh would not be eligible for R/R and that Glasgow are allowing them a facility due to it being essentially a challenge fixture.

I dont see why r/r should not be available for any missing rider, it amazes me that the system presumes any guest rider will do his best for his temporary team, but any 'missing' rider is swinging the lead, taking the piss and that skullduggery is afoot.

A club could then sign a rider they had no intention of ever using and just live on guests and R/R.

Most employers allow a certain level of sick leave, its a bit dramatic to assume that if anyone calls in sick that they are lying and that if you pay them once they'll never show up again and still expect to be paid. Your idea that any club would sign a rider with no intention of using them is a bit extreme

But in this instance we know where the rider is - he's in Poland at the behest of his Polish club. Now, if clubs sign riders who are going to miss fixtures for such reasons should suffer the consequences. In this instance, with it being a challenge fixture, Glasgow have taken the pragmatic view and allowed Edinburgh a facility. But were it an official fixture, Edinburgh would not be allowed a facility and rightly so.

But in the world of speedway, where riders are at liberty to sign for as many clubs in as many countries as they wish, is it not rather naive to assume all riders will always be available and that some will be unavailable far more than others ?

Seems as if it's all irrelevent now as the continued Wintry weather in Poland has meant the training camp has been cancelled . So THJ should be free to turn out for his part-time team on Sunday . Though if tonight's performance is anything to go by , a NL rider would be preferable .

But the Poles do not allow facilities for riders missing due to other engagements and nor do the Swedes. The Poles organise their season around the main events (FIM meetings) and disregard everything else. If riders choose to ride elsewhere, that's up to them, but no facility for their clubs. This, naturally enough, means clubs do their best to make sure riders are available, while the BSPA just dole out facilities and clubs and riders extract urine.

Yes but we think riding everyday of the week is the way-to-go in Britain, and don't offer the highest pay structure to compensate.

And it is a marvellous March at the "Messiahdome" as the Tigers defeat their "nearest and dearest" for the first time in a while. And they even beat them by enough to win the much-maligned "Spring Trophy":
GLASGOW "A PLANT" TIGERS..56 [95]
1..Shane Parker..[C]..3,2,3,2',2' = 12+2 2..Ross Brady..2',1',2,2 = 7+2 3..Peter Juul Larsen..1,0,1',2' = 4+2 4..Josh Grajczonek..3,1,2,3 = 9 5..James Grieves..3,3,2,3,3 = 14 6..Mitchell Davey..3,0,0 = 3 7..Anders Andersen..2',2',0,3,0 = 7+2
EDINBURGH "SCOTWASTE" MONARCHS..55 [92]
1..Ryan Fisher..1,6,2,3,0,0 = 12 2..Aaron Summers..0,2',3,1,1 = 7+1 3..Thomas H Jonasson..R/R 4..Andrew Tully..0,1',0,1,2 = 4+1 5..Matthew Wethers..2,1,3,3,1,1 = 11 6..Michal Rajkowski..1,0,1',0,1' = 3+2 7..Sean Stoddart..0,0,0 = 0
Our chum paulco, "more than happy" and off to get "blootered" ahead of his trip to Manchester tomorrow. Our chumess midnightlady not so happy and left wondering why the Monarchs didn't use their second Tactical Ride in Ht 14.

And the party rages on at the "Messiahdome" - Mrs paulco might catch a fleeting glimpse of paulco before he heads to Manchester, although I can't vouch for whether she'll get anything coherent from him.

The "future GP star" seems to have been left trailing in the wake of Parker & Grieves today.
