OK, Christmas is well out of the way and also the "Speedway Flapperjack Of 2008" has been decided (after KevH changed his vote, so that Lord Flapperjack didn't win - didn't realise Kev was a LF fan ), so it's time to get underway with the first FOTW thread of 2009. There was no winner to the Christmas FOTW award, so the title is vacant. Would our Swedish friend Erik like to pick the winner? Erik, are you about on Saturday, January 17?

I'd like to nominate the short sighted nimbys on Bodmin Council who rejected the planning application for the proposed speedway despite public opinion being vastly in favour of the venture.

I suppose I would, although I honestly don't have much of a clue to what this section is really about... What is a flapperjack?

Its a euphemism for the most aesthetically beautiful vision on the planet, on here however it refers to the weeks biggest clown.

Erik - it is the replacement word on this forum for a rather vulgar English swear word that begins with a "c". But the Flapperjack Of The Week competition is quite light hearted - it's really about who's made the biggest fool of themselves over the fortnight. Normally the winner comes from within in speedway circles, although it doesn't have to be. I think this section is bascially just somewhere for people to let off a bit of steam when something has annoyed them.

Usually someone that has said or done something particularly stupid or annoying. I think I'm a previous flapperjack actually, come to think of it.

I think you were nominated, but I don't think you were ever named "Flapperjack of the Week".

I see My knowledge of british promotors and other people involved behind the scenes of british speedway is however rather limited, so although I'm honoured - perhaps I'm not the best person to pick a winner?

Doesn't have to be British, or are there no Swedish flapperjacks? Ole Olsen is a serial flapperjack, always there or thereabouts.
