If this is indeed true, it looks like Somerset may have a problem, as Mr Golding is the licensed promoter at The Oak Tree Arena.
Neither the land-owner or any sponsor can just walk in and pick up the pieces as they need the agreement of Mike Golding to sell/transfer that licence, and also an experienced promoter to 'advise'.
Maybe Mark Legg or Malcolm Holloway could step in on an advisory level, but after all the acrimony there appears to have been, is Mike Golding going to make things easy for anyone?

According to Somerset's sponsor Toogood is still co-promoter.
Obviously Wellie & Mark Legg names will be thrown into the ring of possible promoters taking over at Somerset with Reading's licence on ice for 2009, but what about the Newport licence?
Wellie & Mark have stated they are committed to returning to Reading when (IF) a new stadium is completed, but Roger Young was ready, willing & able to take over Newport until the landlords rent increase knackered that.

Berwick Exeter Reading Newport Somerset Hmmmmm the list is getting worryingly long . Wont need to bother about a PL split at this rate .

It all seems rather inelegant.

A small piece in today's Speedway Star about the situation suggests the problem between Mike Golding and the Oak Tree Arena landlord Bill Hancock is over some sponsors Hancock wanted banned from the Oak Tree Arena (presumably not Sharp, since they appear to be backing Hancock). Anyway, it seems that Golding has been 28 days' notice by Hancock.

Isn't Toogood co-promoter??? I believe that Mike Golding bought Peter Toogood out and owns Somerset 100%. Toogood asked to be kept on as "silent" co- Promoter because of his position as SCB Chairman and Mike agreed to this. But I'm not totally sure about Toogood needing to be involved, (albeit by name) as SCB Chairman and I can't find anything to confirm or deny this. Does anyone on here know for sure?

Anyone holding any position within the BSPA must be named as a promoter of a current club. Toogood currently doesn't have any other ties within speedway, so if his position at Somerset were jeopardized, so would his position within the BSPA. Toogood doesn't hold a position on the SCB.

It seems Pavitt and Croucher along with Ms Debbie Hancock are the new co-promoters at Somerset

That will go down well on the Isle of Wight . Why? The reason IOW aren't in the PL next season is because it's financially not viable. Being the promotion at Somerset doesn't mean they can't still promote the NL on the IOW.

Maybe it's just me , but if Dickson and Dick came out with dropping Glasgow into the NL - then turned up at Berwick a few weeks later ......................I wouldn't be best pleased .
