From Poole's website:
19 year old sensation Lewis Bridger is one of the first riders to be booked by Poole club owner Matt Ford for the New Year Classic meeting which is being held on Sunday January 4th. Ford a self-confessed admirer of the controversial but impressive Hastings born rider has named Bridger amongst some of the earliest acceptances for what will be the very first speedway meeting of 2009 in Britain, the year in which British Speedway commemorates its 80th year. Original plans of having a select band of National Champions had to be shelved due to problems with obtaining suitable work permits and visas but a truly competitive line-up is being developed. Bridger will be joined by his 2008 clubmate, former Pirate Edward Kennett, along with Daniel King, a rider who always performas well at Wimborne Road, Emil Kramer, Stuart Robson, David Howe and Olliver Allen.

I imagine the lure of Oliver Allen will prove too hard for outraged of Dorset to resist. But will he be left speechless with rage when it turns out that it's Oliver Allen R/R?

I can't say I'm really tempted to travel all the way down to Dorset to see Olly Allen pull out of the meeting after one ride.

I'll be staying not far from the track around New Years anyway, so this worked out pretty well - extend stay by a day so I dont have to rush back up to Norfolk for work Monday morning, and sorted.

Zbigniew Suchecki has had to withdraw from the meeting - he has gone into hospital to have the metal pins in his leg removed and won't have recovered from the operation in time to take his place in the line-up. His place will be taken by fellow countryman Tomasz Piszcz, according to the official Poole site.
