So P'boro already using r/r for NKI which any of their riders can take are now also missing Bjerre who's riding in Denmark tonight. Flapperjack Swales seemed to have thought that he'd be given a facility to cover Bjerre, but as the rules state they will have to use a 6pt PL rider instead. Evens things up a bit for the meeting, but I still wouldn't be surprised to see an away win. Expect Andersen to be unbeaten with solid backup from Dryml & Swiderski & King. Chris Louis guests for Matej Zagar, Louis has been in fine form during recent visits to Smallmead, so expect him to have a stinker tonight! Score prediction: 41-49

Almost thought about coming to this one, but the thought of seeing Lord Flapperjack in the flesh two weeks running is too much. Good luck Racers.

And, in fact, they win 50-40, with the golem Swales fucking up his nominations for Ht 15 - obviously forgotten that only your score from programmed rides counts towards Ht 15. He tried to nominate Swiderski, who had a couple of wins as a reserve replacement which would be discounted. In the end, he went with just Andersen. Looks like a fantastic night for Buczkowski, scoring 12+1 from six rides.

I think badge mean't has he moved into the Reading team proper? Yes mate, he has - he was riding at #2. Nice to see Trav return to some kind of form tonight, and as others have said, Buczkowski must have been a joy to watch tonight.

Okay, a quick lesson in how to make an arse of yourself while managing a speedway team, courtesy of Trevor Swales. The away No 7 has four programmed rides, these are in Hts 2, 4, 8 and 14. Only a rider's score from his programmed rides are taken into account when deciding eligibility for a nomination in Ht 15. Swales tried to nominate Swiderski, but due to Swales trying to appear clever by swapping his reserves, Swiderski only took two of his programmed rides, scoring just TWO points in those rides.

Well that was entertaining ;D Thought halfway through the meeting that we'd blown it, especially with Andersen lining up in 4 of the last 6 heats, but the Racers dug deep. Buczkowski looks to be enjoying himself at Reading, the boy just doesn't give up trying and to hold off Andersen was brilliant. Travis back with another good score, Janusz looked a bit under power tonight but is still recording decent points in the heatleader role. Poor Simota took the brunt of some dubious riding from P'boro tonight, Tacey taking what looked like 3 attempts to fence him in one race and King riding directly at him in another! If I'd have been him I'd have poked both the dirty bastards in the eye for that. Lemo still not doing it for Reading, but the commitment is there from him. He's been riding unwell pretty much since he returned after his injury at Easter, yet he's never thrown a sickie and drop his team in the shit. Don't know what was up with Jonas in his first 2 rides, didn't gate in either and didn't look to have the speed to chase from the back. Locked up & fell in his 3rd ride on 1st/2nd bend and was replaced in his 4th ride. All in all, considering Louis (who did his job, and got a fantastic flyer to end Andersens' unbeaten run ) probably scored 2 or 3 points less than Zagar would and with Lemo & Davidsson having bad ones I thought we did bloody well. P'boro may have been weakened but they were still beaten by a team who's averages total just over 35 points. And Sube, yep Swales fucked up big time, why he just didn't name another rider, have them excluded & bring in Swidders as a reserve in ht15 I don't know. If P'boro are looking to take 4th place now, I'd like to see them lose the return meeting against us next Monday. We've got the "Messiah" guesting at no.1 and r/r for Lemo who's out due to a pre-arranged operation.

Because I don't think you're allowed to do that. Certainly in the Premier League you can't make any reserve changes in Ht 15. If a rider gets up to mischief at the tapes or exceeds the two minutes, it's a handicap or nothing.

Didn't know that. Am sure we've seen a reserve replacement in ht15 before, maybe it was to replace a rider injured in the original line up of the heat.
Maybe Swales didn't know either and that was to be his next tactical move. Love the thought that Tim Sugar was stood in the pits next to him telling the clerk of the course Swales couldn't use his chosen rider, or use a reserve replacement in ht15 because it was against the rules. ;D

Didn't know that. Am sure we've seen a reserve replacement in ht15 before, maybe it was to replace a rider injured in the original line up of the heat. Nor did I, until the Berwick versus Stoke meeting earlier this season: Burza got himself into mischief at the tapes and had to go off the 15 metre handicap since reserve changes aren't allowed in Ht 15. Then a short while later, in the Newcastle versus Newport meeting Atkin did the same thing, only Atkin spent that long arguing with the referee about the tapes exclusion that he was excluded for exceeding the two minutes and Newport were down to one rider in Ht 15.
