Home defeat as expected, but had it not been for the heroics of janusz & Sammy it could have been ALOT worse. Was suprised at the size of the crowd considering most people knew we were in for a hiding, probably the biggest crowd we've had at home since Swindon visited at Easter. Not a bad atmosphere from the home fans either considering, kids seemed to enjoy themselves.
Janusz looked the best I 've seen all year and Sam's performance will do his confidence the world of good. Neath was disappointing, but the form of Lemo & Trav is worrying. Shields was hardly an inspired choice of guest and didn't really look interested to me.
I wonder too Schumi if Greg's non-availability is affecting Trav. He seemed to bounce off of Hancock and looked very poor tonight.
Good win for Coventry, long drawn out meeting with firstly the paramedic being involved in an accident on the way to the track and secondly the number of re-starts due to Cov riders jumping at the gate. Nicholls & Schlein were both at it, but Janirio was the worst of them all - reckon someone told him all the chippy's in Reading closed at 10pm and with the late start to the meeting that was playing on his mind as he constantly jumped the starts. ;D
Track better than expected considering how hot it's been down here since Saturday and thankfully the promotion kept on top of the dust with Wellie taking charge of the water bowser for the evening. Nice to see & have a chat with Pat Bliss tonight as well.
Worrying times with Matej, seems Reading re-arranged tonights fixture before Torun had re-arranged theirs and he should have been at Smallmead tonight. Sounds like BSPA have slapped a £500 fine on him, possibly a 28 day ban as well as we were granted r/r for him in the end.
Hope the later isn't the case, we were never going to win tonight even with Matej in the team the way our guest, Trav, Neath & Lemo performed. If a ban is forth coming We'd have been better off biting the bullet & using Ben Barker tonight as it was evident that we are laking a heat leader and can't afford to run meetings for another 28 days with performances like we saw tonight.
