The aussies obviously do it well, but at least there's a strong tradition and from what I understand quite a few tracks in OZ. I find the contribution of the state of California to world speedway through the years even more amazing. And by the way, is there no speedway in New Zeeland at all these days? Don't think I've ever heard of a kiwi-rider in recent years.. One here at Redcar - Jade Mudgway. Looks like he will be a handy rider in a few years time.

I'd suggest that the Aussies have to have a different mentality to be able to make it in the sport. Rico The Australians just have a different mentality when it comes to sporting achievement. They place little store in the concept of "glorious failure" that is so admired here in the United Kingdom.

Thing about the Aussies is that over there the Sports Minister is one of the top jobs (like in the top 3) and they take it seriously........over here it is treat as 'just another high profile job' and they dont do anything whilst they have it.
Their government take sport seriously and ours dont - simple as.

No, over here it's an excuse to go to the cup final, the olympics, various world championships and so on. One long round of top-notch hospitality gigs.

Nonsense young Rico. British Speedway is superior in most ways - except in quality of homegrown riders. Young ?? ;D Ok, Mr Ghengis - give me some reasons please. Thanks in advance. Rico Young Rico, the reasons are obvious. Firstly, British Speedway is more varied. The Swedish tracks are much of a sameness, ditto in Poland. But in Britain we have every shape and size from the Isle Of Wight to Armadale and from Plymouth to Peterborough. Then there's racenights. Want to see a weekend of speedway in Poland. Impossible - they all ride on the same day. And on afternoons as well, and everyone knows speedway is better under lights. But in British speedway you can do a weekend of speedway - as i did recently, when thanks to Paulco's kind hospitality, I spent a weekend up in Scotland. And last but not least, there's the British fans. Great bunch of people. In my eyes, British Speedway will always rule no matter how crap the national team is.

I went to the meeting, and watching Nicki P was brill Thankfully he was the only reason I went to it, so 'Team GB's' crap performance didn't ruin my evening. I didn't expect us to win but with all the Coventry 'experts' i did think we'd manage more than one heat win.
