This is from the Evening Star:
Broken arm socket for Louis 26 April 2008 | 08:00 MIKE BACON By Mike Bacon
INJURED Evening Star Witches skipper Chris Louis has had an operation in Ipswich Hospital, after his horror crash at Foxhall on Thursday night.
Louis has broken his arm socket rather than his arm, which is what was first thought.
Whether it will make his comeback any more speedy remains to be seen however.
His father, Ipswich promoter John, said last night: “Chris is described as reasonably comfortable and still on painkillers.
“It is too early to comment on what his future holds, but I know that he was enjoying his racing this year.”
Louis is in his 20th year riding for his home town club where he has become an institution also acting as skipper and rider/manager.
Early estimations are that it will be September before he will be able to return to the track.
Full use of the arm and shoulder is of course vital for speedway riders and any weakness would severely restrict performance.
Louis has recovered from two far worse injuries firstly when he suffered severe head injuries in a crash in Poland and then a serious back injury, while riding in Sweden.

That's sad news badge.
Hope this doesn't spell the end of CL's riding career, he might be getting on a bit, but I remember one of his performances against us last year at Smallmead - he was superb and certainly showed some of the younger upstarts around that night how to do it.
Looks like Ippo will need a replacement though, JL could do worse than trying to temp Kolodziej over. Would love to see him back in British Speedway.

Wacks - you're thinking of that superb race against Lee Richardson I asusme? Certainly vintage Louis - I was on the centre green with my camera and had the rest of the photographers in fits because I was jumping up and down and getting totally over-excited in that one! He'd certainly had his shredded wheat (or shreddies, in fact, as it turned out!) that morning!
I think it's really too early to speculate regarding Chris's future, although obviously human nature dictates that people will. The injury is certainly a serious one, and I can't see any way whatsoever that he'll be back on a bike this season, but for the future we will have to wait and hear it from the man himself, I think.

Well even if he could make it back around September time i still think a replacement should be brought in. OK we can use guests throughout May but R/R through June, July and August at least is hardly ideal. The 5% weighting comes in after the first set of green sheets so we really need to get someone in sharpish IF the injury keeps him out for most of the season as expected. At the moment we have up to 7.40 for a replacement and we can then re-declare under the 38.85 limit. Really not that many options. Sullivan would fit but he's very very expensive and probably has no interest in coming back anyway. Hamill would fit but do we really want to go down another veteran route? Ulamek would also fit but has a busy schedule and is just as bad as Chris on away tracks. Other than that there doesn't seem to be any more options ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

Actually i've just seen a suggestion on the BSF which appeals. We could also make a further change, take out an unhappy Robert and replace him with Kim. The extra 1 and a half points would then enable us to replace Chris with Kasprzak. I could be tempted you know!! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

It's worrying that the only riders mentioned are Poles though ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) I have nothing against Poles actually but really the 3 we have are plenty aren't they ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

Taken from the Ipswich forum:
Chris - update 28 April « Thread Started Today at 12:54am »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi all
Chris’s operation went ahead and seems to have been successful.
He has had 4 plates used to patch up brocket socket & ball of his shoulder.
Physio was due to start Sunday but he will remain in hospital for the next 3 or so days to ensure no infections set in.
More later

All the best to 'our' Chris for a full recovery..............but in the meantime this could be the ideal opportunty for Rafal Okoniewski to make his British debut..........I think his average would fit rather well. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Don't get me wrong, I love the three we have to bits (Well, two of them, and the other sneaks a bit of mild affection occasionally!) but I really don't think the team being more than 50% Polish is a good idea.

Yes, read this earlier - think this paragraph says a lot... "However he has been left disappointed that his injury appears to be of little concern to Lewis Bridger, the Eagles youngster, who caused the crash and ultimately Louis' broken arm. “It saddens me rather that I haven't even had a call of best wishes or to see how I am, from Lewis,” said Louis.

I'm afraid it just sums up the arrogant little shit so far as I'm concerned. He didn't even spare Chris a glance when he got up and walked back to the pits on Thursday night - made no effort to even look in his direction. In fact, I would have to say that he seemed almost put out that only two of the St John team were attending to him, with the rest of them surrounding Chris, in spite of the fact that it was fairly quickly apparent that Bridger has suffered no major injury.
Well said from Chris exposing the stupid little boy for what he is.
