it's astonishing really the difference in attitude of some of the young riders..we had Ben Barker on friday trying his heart out, being interviewed and coming across like a really mature young man ( despite his squeaky voice)... I remember seeing him ride for the Oxford CL team several years ago at Carmarthen. He was brilliant on the track, but I was keeping a close eye on the pits and he impressed me there too. Always involved with what was going on and listening intently to what he was told. It was Carmarthen's last match of the season, with the usual high jinks including a wheelbarrow race. Now it was just for the home team and it looked bloody hard work, but young Ben Barker decided he wanted to have some fun and give the fans something to enjoy and joined in. I've followed his on track progress ever since, such a shame a few other youngsters don't have his attitude.

SL - surely this should be going on the Mutt's Nuts thread then, and not the flapperjack one.

I have to admit Ben Barker is one of the brightest prospects I have seen for a long time. The Stoke fans love him and I can see why.
If Bridger had 1% of Barkers mental attitude he would be a 200% better person.

OK, I am back in the land of the living after a 3:30 finish in the local watering hole (not to Mrs Eddie's approval ). So it was a close one for me here. The recent nominations for Bridger have run him very, very close. The young lad just seems to be a law unto himself. I have watched him over the past 2/3 years and seen little improvement both on track and off. His attitude seems to well and truly stink. In a normal course of flapperjack nominations he would have won. However, during this round of voting we had a truly appalling act on the speedway track and that was the actions of the Thug, Ricky Ashworth. So it goes to Ashworth for being the biggest flapperjack I have ever seen in 25 years of watching speedway. It really was that bad.

Right now I would pay another team to have him next season, I believe Poole were interested in him. Christ no, we don't want him thanks very much. Your opinions of him very much echo mine - and nothing I've heard from various people on him seem to do anything to change me from that. I don't even think he's that good as he's getting older to be honest - he's just an ego on fast bikes - and that scares me. I've more time for Cam Woodward and Simon Gustaffson who I think will go farther and faster than Bridger over the next 10 years.
