Crazy...I just spoke to someone who has never been to speedway before...told them there will now be promotion and relegation and he has said he might start giving it a look now¬!!!!!!.. bj Come on now, beggerjaybea, you may not be as old as me, but you're old enough to remember the last time promotion and relegation was tried. How would that someone feel if in the very first season the existing top level clubs ganged together so that the bottom club didn't get relegated? It took two fucking years to relegate Swindon last time around. And then after that the clubs winning the second tier, such as Glasgow, refused point blank to be promoted.

I think it's the points limit that has got most people going BJ, they're not going to change that in the full statement are they... As for the promotion relegation thing, we'll have to wait and see, like you say the full details aren't out yet....But I'm with you on this one ( surprisingly) lets see how they plan to do it first...

such as Glasgow, refused point blank to be promoted. Nope, it was Peterborough who refused, after winning in 1992. Promotion / relegation had been scrapped by 1993 - the first year Glasgow won their back-to-back championships.

I nominate Speedway forums which are already full of shit spouting about the BSPA and the conference before they have even realeased the full statement...and are already telling the promoters they have got it wrong..... Absolutely... as I've posted on the BSF this alvo: for years, everyone says a radical shake-up is needed, and moan that it hasn't been done. Then it comes, and everyone still moans.
And, excuse me, but there wouldn't be any British speedway without the promoters.
Sorry for trying to look at things from a sensible angle.

Promotion and Relegation did not work several years ago...but am i rigfht in saying both Poland and Sweden have it.....As i said lets wait and see...If it comes to the end of the season and clubs refuse to go up etc...then fine bleat all you like but for Fuck sake stop moaning before a wheel has been turned
As for the points limit,.....I feel sorry for Coventry...but unfortunately i believe it has been brought down so much to rid the league of piss takers and money grabbers...Nicki Pdersen.....Matty Zagar...Jesper B Jensen etc etc.....Last year teams were desperate for top riders and they could name there price....now the teams can name there price because there will be plenty available

Promotion and Relegation did not work several years ago...but am i right in saying both Poland and Sweden have it..... Yes. They also have squad systems, better chances for their youngsters, a single race night, different rules... Your point being? Says he, not moaning one bit. I take exception to that.

Schumi
You may take exception at it...but why not ask the Eastbourne fans what they think of him...Think they may answer you with the word "who":-)

BJ I agree with you . It will only work for one season but it gives the clubs the upper hand when it comes to wage and terms negotiations. If that leads to a more financially stable EL it has to be good. I'll wait for the full statement before deciding if the conference as a whole has been good or bad.

OK, there's not much time left for any last minute nominations, so if you have someone in mind propose them quickly.

I nominate Star Lady and BeggarJaybea for agreeing on something - are they trying to ruin this forum. Blimey, whatever next, Schumi saying that Peter Ebdon is a really interesting snooker player and she loves his tactical play... and me saying I really enjoy when Hendry goes into robot mode and reels off century break after century break ;D ;D

OK, it looks like all the nominations are in. Genghis, I think Star Lady and Beggerjaybea should get a room and not a nomination. The BSPA......hmmm, assuming they can convince me the promotion/relegation thing will really happen without a repeat of the fiasco of yesteryear, then I'm happy to go with their decision. If people want proof that you don't have to have a weak team under the new limit, have a look at my post in the Lakeside thread!!! There have been some 'charming' characters nominated this week for the hideous crimes they've committed, but it's my opinion that the courts should deal with them and they are too contemptible to even get a mention on a friendly forum such as this!!! So, it's prize giving time........and for being probably the most boring, condescending and hypocritical knob who has ever devalued the column inches of the BSF and sadly the WWoS too....... step forward the failure that is Tsunami. And just for good measure, I reproduce his pathetic ;D ;D after every post.

Well, thanks for that, young H - was hoping you'd extend it for another week, but there you go. Anyone want to make the decision next week?
