Munners and Badge have pretty much summed up the whole affair, but I guess neither of them had the misfortune to use the free public transport to and from the stadium? Never before have so many people been in one enclosed space at the same time - sardines would have felt claustrophobic in the trams!!! Amazed that Nicholls got away with that move on Bomber, but the story goes that he was told on his walk back through the pits that he'd be in next year anyway - now I guess we all know that really, but isn't the decision suppposed to be made and agreed by committee? I guess the committee has a dictator though? Well done to AJ, nice to have 'our own' rider to support eh Munners? One a brighter point though, as others have said, the company was good - we were talking to the Leigh Adams Crew, and before we knew it, it was 4am!!!

Sure was Kev, and it seems there were a few of us there doing so! The back straight boys were about a dozen rows behind me, waving the Hammers flag. Great to see.

Well I think I heard IMG's bubble bursting on Saturday night.
That was dire. Nearly dire enough to make me pack in Speedway.
Happy for AJ and if I was Harris, I'd be going absolutely mental at Nicholls, he's got grow up in stature a bit soon and that hopefully fires him up.

Not quite sure why it is so negative on the British sites. On the German forum it is no where near like this.Ok,everyone agrees the racing wasn't good, but apart from that the feeling in Germany was ......not bad for a start.Next year will be better. The main moan on the German site is the loud music. :)And the fact the announcements were made in english first ;D A crowd of over 20,000 for the first GP is certainly a good starting point. I spoke to a couple of locals after the meeting attending their 1st speedway event and they were happy and will be attending next year. And one guy was about 60 the other about 25/30.So a good age spread.Although i admit they might just possibly be the only 2 in the crowd ;D But somehow i doubt it.These events are to acertain extent aimed at the one meeting a year crowd, plus the tv viewers. And lets face it they have a different outlook to die-hard fans

From that opinion/view, I agree a good starting point. Cardiff started off with empty seats outnumbering the fans but it was way that IMG and Sky decided to bullshit it up for so much.

I agree with Maccattack. It is never going to be brilliant first time around. I certainly enjoyed myself even though I wasn't feeling too good, but I suppose either are quite a few others now that were on the tram with me. I was squashed up again a male Lakeside supporter of whom I didn't know, he probably has my cold now.
How I managed to stay up drinking until 4am, I don't know. Kev H, you're a bad influence on me. Had a great laugh with the Leigh Adams pit crew, they're much kinder that a certain ginger tossers.

Yes,obviously i haven't seen the hype on Sky or in Speedway Star. And appologies to Braveheart and Kev for not getting to meet you again.I was soooooo nervous I think there was an opportunity missed out on the concourse as well. There seemed enough space there for a fan festival of some sort.Similar to what happened during the footie World Cup.Stalls selling souvenirs, beer and food.maybe from the various countries involved in the GPs.Get the local tourist board interested and tourist boards from the various countries with stalls selling stuff from each country. They do similar things here in Hamburg during local street festivals. At our local Christmas market we usually get a stall from Latvia and Scandinavian countries selling stuff from there, plus advertising holidays, etc.

And if you're ever in Essen, try the bar opposite the City Hotel - it's probably the friendliest bar in Germany - not just the visiting Brits, but the locals too, a brilliant little place!!

What it does show is that it could have been a fairly decent heat if not for the fall.
