Good to know that Archibald Leitch's superb South Stand will have to be incorporated into any re-development. Quite. Espically since Everton and Portsmouth are moving to new grounds, they both have Leitch design in their stadium somewhere. Leitchism would be dead in this nation.

It looks like the "Hun" are looking to re-develop their Ibrox home: It's not been so many years since they finished the last redevelopment has it?

There has been various bits and pieces done over the last 30 years or so . The last piece , filling in the corners , happened about 5 or 6 years ago . But the " New Ibrox " project is just part of a massive re-development in the south side of the city .

The reconstruction of Ibrox started after the Stairway 13 tragedy in the early 1970s, when, interestingly enough, Rangers were Britain's wealthiest club. How times change.

Were we really , as you say how times change . That's what happens when you appoint arrogant little Dutchmen who throw away crazy money on skinny Norwegian numpties .

Were we really , as you say how times change . According to "The Football Grounds of Europe" by Simon Inglis: Burdoned with the stigma of their dangerous ground, in 1977 Rangers unveiled a plan to transform Ibrox completely on three sides, leaving (fortunately) Leitch's distinctive 1928 South Stand intact. Because Rangers are the richest club in Britain they were able to complete this £10 million programme in just three years, but it was an enormous risk.

Written about Leitch's work by Simon Inglis, Mr.Stadia.

No, I'm afraid not, I just have his "The Football Grounds of Europe", which was published ahead of the 1990 world cup in Italy. My, how time flies, it doesn't seem like over seventeen years ago. The book actually includes a photograph of a speedway race at Wroclaw's stadium and speedway gets a few mentions.
