Berwick have 6.65 points to play with. Surely PW can't muck this one up

Just to give everybody an update on the latest situation with regards to the team. Today (Monday afternoon) Peter Waite has confirmed that he is unable to sign a seventh rider to complete his line-up because "there are no available riders out there." As a result the Bandits will race against Newcastle home and away this weekend with only six signed riders, using a guest for the one remaining place in the side. However, Peter will not have this option for the following week's Premier Trophy clash against Edinburgh. He says he must have seven signed riders, or be prepared to face the consequences from the BSPA. Today Peter tried to sign Andy Smith. The intention would have been to drop one existing member of the team to get him into the side. However, Smith is still nursing a leg injury, otherwise he would have taken up the offer. Peter says he is really desperate but everyone he has spoken to has either retired or is not interested in travelling to Berwick for home meetings. There are two new teams in the Premier League and a number of other riders have moved up to the Elite League due to their reduced team limit, which has also had an effect on rider availability. "I just can't believe we are in this position just a few days before the start of the season," he said. "I am now searching the globe to try and find a suitable rider, but if I have to chop and change the team, even this late in the day, it is what I will do if circumstances dictate, because we simply cannot start the season with only six riders." Waite also has this warning for his fellow promoters. “As far as I am concerned this is certainly not good news for British Speedway, and it just makes me wonder what is going to happen a month or so into the season when riders start to pick up injuries. Teams will be looking to sign replacements, but they will find to their cost that there is just nobody out there to fit the bill.”

I seem to 'vaguely' recall a young Danish fellow who would fit the bill if some sanity finally prevailed regarding his average!!

If Peter is that desperate for a rider can Stony not jump on a bike and go out and set an example to the team. Reckon it's going to be one of those seasons.
