Can add Millsy to the list as well Sub - what is your bloke on???
First race (ht3), exits turn 2 of the first lap second only to wobble, stick his inside leg out in Paul Lees direction (who didnt know where to put himself but managed to hold on to take second entering turn 3) then wobble like a novice round turns 3 and 4 allowing Sam Martin to ease past him and away leaving the poor lad to pootle around (just) at the back for the remaining 3 laps
Second race (ht7), my only comment was "nowhere", to be fair that may have been unfair praise as he obviously enjoyed watching the battle between Makovsky and Harding from a distance
Third race (ht10 after the interval), gated and went away with Topinka trying both inside and out but to no avail, topped off by his weirdness looking inside coming off the fourth bend on the second lap to almost be eyeball to eyeball with Topinka but he held his nerve (and line) for a fully deserved win
Fourth race (ht12), settled for 2nd behind Nermark with Benji looking to complete 4 laps as much as challenge
Fifth race (ht15) manages to come out of the second bend in 2nd and holds Harding off well whilst giving him (and the crowd) just enough hope for Trev to push all the way to the line but your man held on by a bike length or two
To be fair I've seen worse at Saddlebow and there were a few good heats (although whether Wibblemuis would have thought it value for money is perhaps debatable). Big disappointment was Suchanek and how Martin came away with a paid 6 is still a complete mystery

But isn't he great? Okay, it may have been a thumping win, the Bandits may not have been much of a challenge, but you saw true weirdness and that's got to count for something, hasn't it?

But, true to form, the Weird Wonder comes to life and confounds Topinka in Ht 10 - isn't he the greatest? The greatest what?

Just the greatest. But I sense that you haven't yet been overwhelmed by the weirdness.

In the great balance sheet of life, no Sorry Sub but last night was a shining example of why the present PL is too big with too many one sided heats / races within races with riders who really shouldnt be on track at the same time (as you can probably tell I'm not looking forward to next years 'expansion' which can only make matters worse)

That's part of the trouble with becoming successful in the world of speedway, if success isn't enough for you. And it isn't for me, which is why I don't mind watching my speedway at Shielfield Park. When you become successful, you become a real value for money draw at most tracks you visit, but your home meetings become tedious tales of slaughter.

To an extent you are right and we have certainly had our fair share of slaughterings in the last couple of years (and I guess it was the same for Rye and Sheffield in the recent past as well) My real concern is for the way the sport is structured to place such store in home track advantage rather than rewarding teams that can provide entertainment away from home and seems happy to have massive mismatched heats in virtually every meeting (this is not a pop at Berwick, more the composition of current PL teams)

I don't expect to attend the NA again until the team has been decimated and we have to battle for every point. I know lots of people just love a winnning team, I prefer to be different To answer Tony M, maybe if all clubs were run along the lines of Lynn with team spirit and security of tenure (well as much as is possible) other teams might just provide better opposition. Let's be honest here who would have expected Brundle to have a near 6 point average, Mildenhall didn't manage it, and Lee to come back as well as he has? Riders may have the natural talent but it has to be channelled. I know that's not all the answer but it might go someway. At least riders might show some pride in their team. There again I think I might be delusional after happenings today

There again I think I might be delusional after happenings today Certainly think a lot of Lynn's success can be put down to team spirit (even without the Aussie factor that so many people pointed to in previous years) and yes in an ideal world all clubs would have such a spirit but cant see how that would be possible with the current annual merry-go-round. Wibblemuis has put forward a compelling argument regarding giving average deductions for 'returning' riders and I would take it further by scrapping the asset system in favour of rolling two year contracts, this would still allow for clubs to be reimbursed through a transfer system for riders that wanted away (albeit at a lower value) but would stop the nonsense of loans for riders that havent ridden for their 'parent' club in the last decade (ie a rider can only be 'loaned' for one season and if he doesnt ride for their parent club the following season they would effectively become a free agent subject to safeguards to give some protection to the club)
