And paulco's beloved heathen Tigers win what looks to have been an eventful meeting, with six heats needing re-runs, 49-40. So, it looks as if paulco will have much to report, when they finally eject him from the bar.

Finally made it out of the bar people . Yes it was an eventful afternoon with a meeting that took almost two and a half hours to get through . Spent some of it with my wee pal Lioness who struggled through on crutches , and another part of it with Berwick's own warrior princess who was giving her boyfriend Shadders moral support . We always held the upper hand with " the messiah " and Wato doing the business when required . Rye were worthy opponents however and the young laddie Woffinden seemed to find Ashfield more to his liking . But a pleasant afternoon was spent in good company and very little rain .

One thing i will say about today is - the track was crap . I don't know if that was intentional or not , but we can do better than that surely .

It looks like honourary heathendom awaits jacques in the heart of Barbaria. But paulco's point about the facility for Theo Pijper are valid. Why are Edinburgh getting a facility to cover his absence? After all, they must've known this meeting was in Pijper's schedule when they signed him. Now, last season Berwick got hammered by the BSPA when Burza missed a meeting at Glasgow - Burza was banned for a home meeting that the Bandits lost against the Isle of Wight. Oh, but isn't JDC on the management committee of the BSPA? And people wonder why the sport's credibility is shattered. The facility should be withdrawn and if Pijper misses the meeting, he should be banned from a subsequent meeting, just as Burza was. Anything else would be shocking double standards. It's old hat now but two points from this post, my weird friend: 1. JDC is not a member of the management committee and to my knowledge he never has been. Alex Harkess was some years ago but Edinburgh are not represented this year, nor were they last year. 2. Edinburgh were granted a R/R facility for Theo Pijper because the meeting he was riding in was one over which the French Motor Cycle Authorities have complete jurisdiction. Theo rides on a French licence and was ordered by the French to ride in it. He had no alternative but to be there whether he wanted to or not. Under the rules that entitled Edinburgh to the R/R facility. It didn't work out that way of course because of him being replaced by George Stancl.

I take on board your point about JDC. However, the Unia Tarnow meeting that Stanislaw Burza rode in that caused him to miss the Berwick meeting at Glasgow was under the authority of the PZM and I guess he had no choice other than to ride for Unia Tarnow. But Berwick weren't granted a facility to cover him. And, with due respect, the PZM carries an awful lot more clout than the French authorities.

I can't quote you the rules but I believe that the meeting Theo had to ride in (which incidentally was not a speedway meeting) carries international status and that seems to make a difference where facilites are concerned. I could be wrong though....but otherwise I can't understand why Edinburgh would be granted a facility. It certainly isn't because they have undue influence with the powers that be.

As ever, I bow to the superior knowledge of another. Anyway, as you say, all rather academic since Edinburgh signed Stancl.

AFAIK, replacement facilities can be granted for national meetings previously agreed with the BSPA. This is obviously in addition to FIM and BSPA shared events.
