COVENTRY Buildbase Bees are hopeful of confirming a new signing during Monday's home showdown with Elite League title favourites Poole.
The Bees management have been working hard to finalise a deal with a rider with no previous British experience, who would come into the side for their next fixture against Belle Vue on Friday should matters be satisfactorily concluded.
They have needed to move due to the ankle ligament injury sustained by Christian Hefenbrock at Peterborough on Good Friday, with the team yet to fire as a unit so far this season.
And there is no doubt that they will need to raise their game for the Brandon clash with the Pirates, who comfortably won their opening two fixtures before losing out narrowly at Peterborough on Friday.
The visitors have a strong top two in GP newcomer Chris Holder and experienced Dane Bjarne Pedersen, and they spent big over the winter to lure World Under-21 Champion Darcy Ward to Wimborne Road.
Bees boss Alun Rossiter could not hide his disappointment following Friday's 59-32 defeat at Lakeside - but he has had words of encouragement for reserve Josh Auty, who suffered a heavy crash at Purfleet.
Rossiter said: "Josh is a great kid with a big future in the sport, and he will learn more and more every time he rides in the Elite League. I don't have any concerns about him whatsoever.
"As for the team as a whole, the Poole match is a chance for our riders to shine and hopefully they can do that. We've got to do something drastic, and quick, and we all know how hard it's going to be."
BUILDBASE BEES: Chris Harris, Christian Hefenbrock R/R, Rory Schlein, Ben Barker, Edward Kennett, Josh Auty, Filip Sitera.
POOLE: Chris Holder, Jason Doyle, Davey Watt, Darcy Ward, Bjarne Pedersen, Leon Madsen, Artur Mroczka.
