Badge, it looks quite wide. Hopefully it should provide much better racing. I saw the odd good match at Foxhall (and the double-header there in 2001, in which Oxford won the league and Ipswich progressed to the cup final was magnificent). But I also saw a lot of duds, including one meeting in which there was not a single pass - 15 processions. It's the only time in 15 or so years of writing passes in my programme that it's come up with a zero - a few 1's but this is and remains the only zero (Newport on January 3 was getting close, but there was a pass with 3 or 4 heats left). Here's to the new, improved Ippo.

Taken from Ipswichspeedway.com:
Shale Scheme Still Going Well Despite the difficult weather conditions causing a temporary halt to the track work the shale plots are still being purchased on a daily basis. We are very pleased to anounce that we passed the £3000 mark yesterday.
If you or your company would like to take part in the scheme further details can be found here: Shale Sponsorship Scheme
There will also be an opportunity to buy a plot at the fundraising event for this scheme which is being held on 23rd February at kesgrave Social Club - full details can be found here: An Evening with John Louis

And finally the riders get to try out the new track, but not before Loobie christened it first, he's the first rider you see on the track: Mike Bacon video of Ipswich P & P yesterday: www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3LxC-CcWaYAnd the riders thoughts, taken from Evening Star: New track gets big thumbs up

CHRIS Louis rode the first couple of laps around Ipswich Witches' newly-shaped Foxhall circuit . . . and then declared it “fantastic”.
Indeed that was the opinion of all the Witches as they paraded in their new 2010 race suits at the club's press and practice day yesterday.
Louis was determined to have first ride on the new circuit, a circuit he helped create, and he looked very much at ease.
More than 500 tonnes of shale, 180 tonnes of chalk and 250 tonnes of hardcore have been packed into the new Foxhall circuit, and the view from the Witches of 2010 is that is was worth every penny.
Witches captain Danny King summed up the riders' feelings.
“Honestly, it's absolutely brilliant,” he said.
“When there is a bit more material on it, it will be even better, but the lines you are going to be able to pull all over the track will be fantastic.
“The fans are in for a treat with some great speedway this season.”
And Scott Nicholls echoed King's thoughts.
“At first, we may not have much of an advantage on the track, but the racing is going to be so much better. I think the fans are going to love it.”
The newly-shaped track, now measuring (unofficially) 283 metres round, (it was 305 metres), was the main talking point at Foxhall Stadium yesterday, as the Witches riders went through their paces.
Team spirit appeared very high among the Witches and there was a good fell to proceedings.
King added his thoughts on that subject.
“I must admit I haven't felt as good as this on practice day before,” he said.
“The team spirit is excellent, so many of us know each other well. I'm really looking forward to the season.
“We are bonding together as a team already and that is so encouraging.”
King takes over the captaincy in 2010 after successfully returning to the Witches fold last season. He has matured as a rider and a person tremendously over the past couple of years and he takes the captaincy very seriously.
He has also set himself and the team goals.
“The play-offs are a minimum target for us as a club,” he said.
“I think we are going to surprise a lot of people, bring it on, I say. On a personal level, I want to keep doing well for Team GB and keep my World Cup place.”
