I totally agree, but with a 14 point haul, Zetterstrom and Holder are 2010 GP stars. Unless Zorro opts out...Please, God, let Zorro opt out. Watching Walasek has been painful enough this year....please don't make me watch Zorro next year! With all due respect to Zorro, there is NOTHING in his career history that suggests that he is worthy of a GP place, and that includes tonight's results. Being very, very generous, he might rate inside the top 40 speedway riders in the World just now, but more realistically he would be scrambling around the lower reaches of the top 50! No fucking way is he anywhere near the top 15!!! I stand to be proved wrong if Zorro suddenly lifts his form dramatically for the GP series next year, but personally I think that his qualification simply proves that one off qualification events for the SGP are entirely detrimental to the series.

I disagree after watching him last night ! I thought he was fantastic.. especially after the 2 bad crashes he had. So how else are people like him likely to get into the GP's unless they have qualification events like last night? I think it's only fair that riders like him are given an opportunity. Meidzinski also stood out for me last night....really hope we can sign him next season !

The rules are set Zonks and Magnus qualified fair and square, however it's us the viewers who will suffer because he will be hopelessly out of his depth next year, he may have been fantastic last night but he was not up against Crump, Sajfutdinov, Pedersen, Gollob, Hancock, Adams, Andersen, Jonsson, Holta etc. He does not have the team, equipment, sponsorship, experience, and most of all ability to compete regularly at the highest level and his confidence will take a right battering.

Pepe has said on his website that he will be riding tonight, but the Coventry track is not one of his favourites, and he doesn't feel 100% well physically - but there is no pressure on him, so he'll see how it goes. He went very well and was mightily unlucky to miss out.

I can see what you are saying, and you may be right, but how else can you make it fair, and have every single competitor up to the standards of the likes of Pedersen, Crump etc?

Apparently Walasek suffered a broken foot in the meeting last night.

Apparently Walasek suffered a broken foot in the meeting last night. Awww, crap! Any idea how long he will be out for? I wanna see Zielona Gora lift the title in Torun, and that will be made mighty tough for them if the genius that is Walasek is missing...

Watching Walasek has been painful enough this year.... That's quite enough of that sort of talk, thank you. Mind you, dear old Grzegorz hasn't been as weird as I'd hoped this season. So, assuming Zetterstrom can't be bought off (and knowing how highly he values himself, I reckon buying him off is probably beyond the purse of the FIM), where does that leave us looking forward?

I'd like to start by saying that yes, Magnus has qualified by right yada yada and so is entitled to his place. But speaking as someone who has had the pleasure of watching him ride for us over the years I feel qualified to say that Coventry is one of his better tracks and that I agree completely with HenryW. He is a middling middle order rider, similar in vein to Adam Skornicki - solid and dependable with the very occasional flash of brilliance but nothing else. He will add nothing to the series, and I do worry about those who are excited about his entry to the series based on some cringeworthy disco dancing routine. He has to win a race in the series to do one of those...how long are we going to wait? I've never been sure why a rider who regularly demands top dollar over his ability seems to attract the adoration he does, but speedway fans are often strange creatures so it's a mystery I'll never understand. I'll be happy to eat humble pie should he prove me wrong, but sadly I think come June time people will be commenting on his unsitability for the series and bemoaning the fact his place could've gone to another more suitable rider.

But it seems some people still think Harris, who bombed out on his home track and apart from a fluke win in 2007 at Cardiff has done bugger all, is worthy of his place.

His failure on his home track last night should surely prove that he isn't worthy of a place....He might not have done much this year, but at least when Walasek had the challenge at his gaff, he coasted through.

I didn't say he deserved it, just that I'd like to see him in. You know I put stock in the entertainers, and if I could pick the field myself, Harris would be in.
