Seems I'm not the only one pissed off, from the official Ipswich website:
Witches Cup Interest Ended
The Ipswich Witches interest in the 2009 KOC competition is over. Chasing a thirteen point deficit from the first leg the Witches crashed to a three point home leg defeat to the Belle Vue Aces.
Their early meeting form has knocked them out of the Cup - twelve points down after heat eight meant that the Witches needed Danny King to continue his great form with a winning Tactical Ride in the following heat and with Tobi Kroner joining him up front after a tough battle with Charlie Gjedde a memorable comeback was on the cards. Fantastic starts from both Hampel and Stachyra in the next had Witches fans on the edge of their seats as they wondered if the Witches could pull back the points, but a fall from Stachyra entering turn three on the second
lap saw those dreams slip away.
The disappointment of the riders, staff and management was clear to see and a shell shocked Chris Louis said, “To say I am disappointed is an understatement, I’ve ridden in plenty of these types of meetings over the years and things don’t always work out, but to have a chance you need focus, passion, belief and more than a little aggression, we found those ingredients in heat nine but it was all over by then. Our track staff gave them the best possible race track and they have no excuses.”
Witches Team Manager Pete Simmons added, “That was possibly the most lack lustre performance I have witnessed here at Foxhall and it came at a particularly bad time. Things clearly have to change and they will. Hats off to Belle Vue they were focused and clearly the better side on the night and I wish them well in the rest of the competition. Danny King again showed me why we so desperately wanted him back and along with Jarek I can have no complaints but we need to
shape the rest of the team to give them the support they deserve
