Well I was sort of invited, does that count? Even if it doesn't, I'm here all the same.

Sub, Can we have a section on Gp's and WTC? I was going to start a thread on this weekends Swedish GP but could not find any suitable place to put it. Just for fun we can make predictions etc. You could give us one of your famous reviews after its over that has been lacking for a while. They were pretty good really.

Of course, A SGP and SWC section was always a thought. But now it's a reality. Let's see how long I can resist the temptation to air my thoughts on the British champion?

With due respects Sub as part of the admin of these boards you will need to show some restraint and be a little more circumspect. I am sure you do it to wind everyone up too. ;D

Sorry Kayjay, I only sent it to a couple of people I thought might be interested in my piece about Ayrton Senna, but I thought you had the link anyway. You are more than welcome – at last I’m no longer the only lady on here, but we’re still outnumbered! Not sure I qualify as a 'lady' but like what I see here - please can I join your gang? I'm a relative 'returner' to speedway having supported COV. BEES as a child and still getting to grips with all the rules and regulations. Glad to see a 'years gone by' section will be included as I also remember 'the old days'! ;D

I couldn't help but notice that there's a distinct lack of a Dedicated Joke thread on this forum. How about a special thread for all us Dedicated Jokers? Maybe one we can put JPEG Piccies on as well? Here's a ferinstance: These are from a book called Disorder in the American Courts, and are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who had the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place. ------------------------------- ATTORNEY: Are you sexually active? WITNESS: No, I just lie there.
ATTORNEY: What is your date of birth? WITNESS: July 18th. ATTORNEY: What year? WITNESS: Every year. _____________________________________ ATTORNEY: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact? WITNESS: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.
ATTORNEY: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all? WITNESS: Yes. ATTORNEY: And in what ways does it affect your memory? WITNESS: I forget. ATTORNEY: You forget? Can you give us an example of something you forgot? ATTORNEY: How old is your son, the one living with you? WITNESS: Thirty-eight or thirty-five, I can't remember which. ATTORNEY: How long has he lived with you? WITNESS: Forty-five years. _____________________________________ ATTORNEY: What was the first thing your husband said to you that morning? WITNESS: He said, "Where am I, Cathy?" ATTORNEY: And why did that upset you? WITNESS: My name is Susan.
ATTORNEY: Do you know if your daughter has ever been involved in voodoo? WITNESS: We both do. ATTORNEY: Voodoo? WITNESS: We do. ATTORNEY: You do? WITNESS: Yes, voodoo. ______________________________________ ATTORNEY: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning? WITNESS: Did you actually pass the bar exam? ____________________________________ ATTORNEY: The youngest son, the twenty year old, how old is he? WITNESS: Uh, he's twenty. ________________________________________ ATTORNEY: Were you present when your picture was taken? WITNESS: Would you repeat the question? ______________________________________ ATTORNEY: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th? WITNESS: Yes. ATTORNEY: And what were you doing at that time? WITNESS: Uh.... ______________________________________ ATTORNEY: She had three children, right? WITNESS: Yes. ATTORNEY: How many were boys? WITNESS: None. ATTORNEY: Were there any girls? ______________________________________ ATTORNEY: How was your first marriage terminated? WITNESS: By death. ATTORNEY: And by whose death was it terminated?
ATTORNEY: Can you describe the individual? WITNESS: He was about medium height and had a beard. ATTORNEY: Was this a male or a female? ______________________________________ ATTORNEY: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which I sent to your attorney? WITNESS: No, this is how I dress when I go to work. ______________________________________ ATTORNEY: Doctor, how many of your autopsies have you performed on dead people? WITNESS: All my autopsies are performed on dead people. ______________________________________ ATTORNEY: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to? WITNESS: Oral. ______________________________________ ATTORNEY: Do you recall the time that you examined the body? WITNESS: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m. ATTORNEY: And Mr. Denton was dead at the time? WITNESS: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy on him! ____________________________________________ ATTORNEY: Are you qualified to give a urine sample? WITNESS: Huh? ____________________________________________ And the best for last: ATTORNEY: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse? WITNESS: No. ATTORNEY: Did you check for blood pressure? WITNESS: No. ATTORNEY: Did you check for breathing? WITNESS: No. ATTORNEY: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy? WITNESS: No. ATTORNEY: How can you be so sure, Doctor? WITNESS: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar. ATTORNEY: But could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless? WITNESS: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law.
Whoever said "The Law is an Ass" certainly got that right!

One thing that has always saddened me about the BSF (and now here too) is how much speedway fans want to look back and how few want to look forward - look at the hits the next time the BSF is back up at the 'days gone by' or whatever its called against the 'way ahead' sections
Whilst this sense of living in the past fills us all with a warm inner glow it is partly the attitude that has allowed the powers that be (such as they are) to do so little about pushing the sport forward compared with the governing bodies of other sports and why they have been so inept at forming a coherent strategy to cope with the GP circus
The only time many want to consider change is in the aftermarth of events like those seen at Oxford when there will be public outcry and I'm guessing very little in terms of a strategic shift in the way the sport is governed
Any chance of a way forward so I can have a rant away from the masses every now and again Sub?

It was asked for. And it's hardly surprising, given the current state of affairs, that people choose to hark back to past glories. What always saddened me about the BSF was the contempt given from the reactionary majority towards any suggestion that's put forward in the "Way Ahead" section. For example, I suggested a sliding scale for points depending on the score achieved by the visiting team. The idea was basically that a team would get six points for a win, but the visiting side would get a couple of points if they managed to score, say, 35 meeting points and four points if they got over 40 meeting points. This was ripped to shreds. If you want a way ahead section - and certainly the sport is in dire need of a way ahead - I'll be happy to oblige. The past's a safe place for those who don't want to face the harsh realities of the present.
Edit:
Okay young fellow, I've done the necessary, now you go and have some fun.
