This year the honour of hosting the German Grand Prix goes to Hockenheim, after they agreed to share the race with Nurburgring.
Latest news is that Jense will be back with Honda next year, and Vettel replaces Coulthard at Red Bull - no surprise there, as Toro Rosso, his current employers, are Red Bull's sister team.
The Championship is currently tied between Hamilton, Massa and Raikkonen, so there's more to race for this weekend than just the podium. Ferrari will be looking to stamp out those errors, whilst McLaren will be hoping to capitalise on their pace in Britain. Kovalainen will be on his own personal mission, as rumours abound that he'll be out at the end of the year after a poor season, with Rosberg the main name in contention to replace him. The others, I'm afraid, are all playing catch-up.

He's currently level with Hamilton and Massa, but if you look at, the other two have been thrown a lot of points away, so he's a bit lucky to be where he is. Meanwhile, things can change so quickly in F1. After 5 races of the season, it was impossible to see anything but a Ferrari World Champion this season. Now I'd have Hamilton as the slight favourite to win it this year.

That's just Raikkonen's cool and calm exterior - don't be fooled into thinking he's not fired up for it. He's already stated categorically he'll be driving next year, even though there was speculation he might quit after this season, and the McLarens have been faster all weekend. I'm not fussed which of the red cars wins the championship, just as long as it's one of them.

Schumi, Raikkonen has always given an external image that he doesn't give a fuck - witness his stripping off to go for a swim at Monaco or his fabulous "I need a shit" interview However, he's need starting to drive like he doesn't care. It reminds me of when Hakkinen suddenly lost interest and retired - maybe it's a Finnish thing. If he is losing interest and there are a few wet races (as Massa is comical in the wet) then the red cars could be in trouble.

Good performance from Hamilton, to be honest i didn't think he looked in any danger of not being on pole - always looked the quickest and most comfortable.

What a race from Lewis after his team cocked up, no doubt that they should have pittted him when the safety car was out but the boy done good!
Passed Massa and Piquet easily, the one on Massa very special after shoving him off the track twice! Ferrari wont be very happy with both Massa and Raikkonen struggling yet again.....luvverly!

Lap 37 and Glock’s rear suspension failed, causing him to crash out of the GP, and the safety car to be deployed to give stewards time to clear the debris. Word on Glock was that there were no visible injuries, but he was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Result:
1..L Hamilton 2..N Piquet 3..F Massa 4..N Heidfeld 5..H Kovalainen 6..K Raikkonen 7..R Kubica 8..S Vettel

Well that was great stuff from Hamilton at the end, despite his team doing their best to ruin his race. How rubbish is Massa though? Hamilton caught up and passed him as if he were a backmarker. And how jammy was Piquet to be able to go from the back to second under the safety car?

Schumi, I know you consider Lewis Hamilton to be a little overhyped, but that was great stuff from him today.
McLaren cocked it up and yet he still passed two drivers on the track to win the race.
What kind of contracts are the Ferrari drivers on? I think Ferrari bosses will be trying to get Alonso into the team - Massa and Raikkonen just aren't performing.

Yes, he drove a great race. Kimi has a deal to last until the end of next year, whilst I'm not so sure about Massa. But I think his manager is one of the top Ferrari guys' sons?

And how jammy was Piquet to be able to go from the back to second under the safety car? Wibblemuis - he was perhaps slightly fortunate, but nevertheless congratulations to Piquet for managing what Alonso has been unable to do this year - finish on the podium. Oh, the irony of this story released earlier today: www.planetf1.com/story/0,18954,3213_3841857,00.html Will Piquet now issue an statment calling for Alonso to step up his performance.

Fisichella has been given a 25 second penalty for unlapping himself when he wasn't supposed to. This puts him in 17th place in the final classification instead of 14th, if it even matters.
