i was in a good mood until i read some of the comments on the bsf, what self righteous wankers some of their posters are, sounds like danny has broken a sport/speedway rule and now pays the penalty,if you don't agree or understand drugs why comment. for the record IF he is guilty its far more likely he took the drug in the morning to combat tiredness than in the evening to boost his performance, and yes i have had plenty of experience. Unfortunately " self righteous " has become the norm for a lot of the contributors on there . It's becoming uncomfortable reading a lot of the threads .

I posted an opinion on the situation in the thread at the BSF early on in proceedings yesterday (and in a rare case of detente, Lioness agreed with me) and have then largely stayed clear of it. I remain disappointed that young Bird hasn't yet 'fessed up and hopefully he will do so, eventually. However, I see no reason whatever why it should be the end of his career, although it is probably the end of any dreams he had of superstardom. But I believe he can rebuild his career in the Premier League. Whether he wants to is another matter. He's a lot of tough decisions to make and let's hope he makes the right ones.

Taking cocaine or experience of others taking it?

I used to work with a guy , on the nightshift at Marshalls in Cambridge , who spent all afternoon in the pub and then took speed to keep him awake all night . Dunno if he's still alive though

To combat tiredness? Well I have heard it all now. Next time I am feeling a bit sleepy I will resort to taking cocaine. How stupid can some people be the facts of drug taking are that initially, they have positive advantages, thats why people take them. we all know that the long term negative effects far outweigh the positive, but people take them neverless. i have had plenty of first hand experience with drugs, and years ago took more than my far share, something i am neither proud or ashamed of. danny knows drugs are illegal i am also sure he knew the dangers, and i have no doubt he knew the cost to his career, the league rules say two years and i fully agree he should serve his full sentence. let me be quite clear,i do not feel sorry for anyone who takes drugs, and certainly don't feel sorry for danny, however the issue needs some perspective,he took cocaine. to my knowledge there has been no suggestion that he was taking anything else, crack, smack, heroin etc or that he was riding under the direct influence of any drug. different drugs have different effects and cocaine is certainly not a performance enhancing one,i just get annoyed with the likes of shovlar and the ilk,who know nothing about the case and feel at liberty to make wild speculative comments

Since when did Paulco claim vast personal experience, and since when did he say speed was cocaine?

It's about time that people started realising that the use of "recreational" drugs occurs in every walk of life...Danny Bird got caught because in sport they get tested. In my old job you are tested when joining and moving to different posts and getting promoted. I know of a few people that take cocaine and one has lost his jobs over it..it happens. You are never going to stop illegal drugs, whatever you DO. It is socially excepted in certain cricles to take recreational drugs. So in Danny Birds case he took the risk ,he had a bit of Charlie and got caught. I wouldn't call him a smackhead (wrong term anyway) I'd call him a stupid idiot, but I think he knows that and is paying his price... I don't read the BSF anymore Stuart, it only winds me up too
