Re: Andreas - have received following info from my contacts at Lakeside; "I've had another call from Jon (Cook) . He has now spoken to a member of AJ's pit crew at the stadium via Chris Louis' mobile. The initial problem appears to have been to AJ's lower back. The good news is that the initial x-rays show no break but severe bruising. At this stage we have no idea how long AJ is likely to be out of action but he is not expected to ride in the next few days." Aye , he's bound to be very sore for a few days . But thank goodness there isn't any serious injury .

I wonder how all the others are .... It seems Puk has come off worst with reports suggesting he'll be out for a month. Does anyone think he'd have a valid claim for loss of earnings against those responsible for track preparation?

Does anyone think he'd have a valid claim for loss of earnings against those responsible for track preparation? Absolutely . If i was given an unsafe environment in which to do my job , and i injured myself because of it , i would be fully entitled to claim for loss of earnings . I hate temporary tracks , but that one last night was truly shocking and i was really beginning to fear the worst at one point .

Really didn't enjoy watching it at all - the track looked atrocious and I think it is only by pure luck that there were no life-threatening injuries sustained - hope the riders get together and raise this with all who were responsible (not recommended they do it individually as we all know what happened to Hans two years ago...)
Tatum & Pearson (aka Dumber & Dumberer) - think somebody needs to write the rules in very simple one-syllable words with pictures to help so they have something to refer to for the next GP...
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to all riders who did sustain knocks!

Whoa, talk about you guys being up in arms Was I the only one who actually thought this GP was very entertaining? Ofcourse the track didn't hold up as it should have done, no question about that. Perhaps it made things a bit of a lottery. But that was the case in Krsko aswell, it was a lottery, although a very dull one.

The difference between the Slovenian lottery and the Swedish one was incompetence though erik...............the elements buggered up what was becoming possibly the best GP ever in Krsco.................but it was the incompetence of the organisers that buggered Ullevi...................it doesn't bear thinking about what may have happened in Gothenburg with a fraction of the precipitation that Krsco encountered.

That may be, but the "buggering up" of Ullevi at least made things interesting, whereas in Krsko it was dull as dishwater. Even though I fully agree it was a bad job done with the track. Actually the lack of water on the track prior to the meeting is probably what caused it to break up. Anyway, even though it was a crash fest a good number of the incidents had nothing to do with the ruts.

I accept that some of the incidents weren't track related, but there were at least three serious crashes for which only the track can be blamed, and that's inexcusable at that level.

Perhaps you are right, I don't know if its inexcusable or not. It's not good, that's for sure. But I still maintain it was a good and exciting GP nevertheless Let's hope Parken and Cardiff get it right in the coming rounds.

Parken was okay last season, but Cardiff has always been an abortion as far as the track is concerned. The only thing that stops Cardiff being like Ullevi is that Cardiff is about half as big and not so fast.

It's the price we pay at the moment for moving the GP's into big stadiums - and I'm willing to pay that price. Because these meetings are something else.
