Fuji returns to the F1 calendar for the first time in 30 years, after replacing Suzuka as the host of this year's Japanese GP.
David Coulthard will be wearing a helmet in the colours of his friend and fellow Scot, the late Colin McRae, as his way of honouring the former rally world champion.
To be honest, there's not much to look forward to - Ferrari have been gifted the constructor's championship, BMW are uncatchable in second and Renault are pretty much assured third. The only possible drama will be between Alonso and Hamilton - a mere two points separating the McLaren drivers going into the 15th race from 17. Ferrari will now be getting behind Raikkonen, though there are 13 points between him and Lewis - not insurmountable, but improbable that he'll be able to bridge the gap barring any McLaren breakdowns.

As long as the sneaky Spanish tosspot doesn't score any points I'll be happy.
In fact, the ideal scenario is that Hamilton wins from Alonso, with Raikkonen a non-fonisher, and then with the Ferrari drivers out fo contention, Big Ron sacks the weasel for the final two races.
Blimey, I used to object to some of Schumacher's tactics, but he was in kinder-school compared to that bastard Alonso.

What do you mean, nothing to look forward to, not interested in the slightest by the constructors title anyway. 4 drivers still in with a shout, best finish for years, Hamilton and Alonesome going at it should make for good viewing. |

Massa will now have to defer to Raikkonen (whether they tell you or not) and Alonso and Hamilton are playing a game - I suspect they'll be on totally different strategies and, whether anyone will admit it or not, Lewis will get a bit of a helping hand. If it goes to the final race with just these two drivers in it, I would expect Big Ron to arrange for there to be a wheel missing for one of Alonso's pitstops ;D ;D |

Judging by the qualifying this morning Hamilton is gonna be well up for this one. Fighting talk from the ridiculously good looking young man, saying that he won't be leaving Alonso as much room next time! If it's wet like it was today, it's gonna be some race.

This is novel  : Bernie Ecclestone is keen to see this year's Champion decided on a last lap collision at the season-ending Brazilian GP.
In perhaps his strangest suggestion to date, the F1 supremo admits he would like a bit of controversy to decide the season - as if there hasn't been enough already this year.
"Like the $100 million fine, it would generate a lot of publicity," Ecclestone said referring to the Stepneygate fine imposed on McLaren.
"Imagine if that happened on the last lap of the last race, then the guy that was leading at the time, points-wise, would be the winner. So it would be a controversial end to the Championship." From www.planetf1.com |

Wow, what a race, and one I didn't think was going to happen as they started behind the safety car and stayed there for 15 or so laps. Ferrari made a bit of a cock-up before the race even started and "opted" to take on intermediates when it was said the FIA had told all teams wet tyres were compulsory for the start of this race. Ferrari claim they didn't get the information, but whatever happened it meant they had to make an immediate change which put them at the back of the grid.
When finally the race started Vettel was the star of the show until another safety car period, triggered by a huge crash for Alonso, when he misjudged how close he was to Lewis and caused an accident with Mark Webber. Vettel and Webber were lying in second and third at the time - an amazing achievement for both drivers, but no doubt Dieter Mateschitz will be having very strong words with Sebastian for causing the accident that put out the best car from each of his two Red Bull teams. Words, I'd suggest, almost as strong as Mark Webber's reaction to the incident. "He came along and fucked it", or words to that effect. Live on tele.
The rain continued and several drivers made mistakes that cost them a finish, but the stars of this show for me were Raikkonen, Kovalainen, Massa and Kubica - all for different reasons.
One of the most irritating things for me is when the teams decide they're going to play safe at the end of the race and give up the fight. Well someone clearly forgot to tell these guys today - Raikkonen looking wild, but damned exciting, pushing Kovalainen all the way in almost zero visibility - it was madness, but pure entertainment. Normal service was resumed at the post-race press conference where he continued with his usual grumpy posture, so if anyone was thinking they might have seen a different side to Kimi, don't worry. Fantastic performance from Heikki - his first ever podium, and thoroughly deserved.
But for me the best bit had to be the wheel-to-wheel delights of Massa and Kubica on the last lap - both Massa pushing Kubica wide off the track in an attempt to get past, then Kubica repaying the favour only for Massa to overtake him on the tarmac and cut across in front for the extra point. And all this in constantly worsening conditions, but the great thing is they did it fairly and both shook hands after. In fact it looked like they were out there just to have fun. If you didn't see it, I suggest you try and catch the highlights.
Notable mention for DC who picked up some points and seemed to be enjoying himself. Button, who looked promising during quali, had a poor race and finished out of the points, and Davidson retired. But overall a good race for a change. More rain in China please!

Fantastic race. Thought it might be a wash out after the first few laps behind the safety car, but boy was I wrong. Couldn't take your eyes off it for a minute.
Shame about Webber, would have been interesting to see him on the podium having been sick in his helmet during the race. How on earth he drove in those conditions, I'l never know.
Well done Lewis and Alonso got everything he deserved ;D ;D

WOW!!! Got up in time to watch the last half of the race just in time to see Alonso crash out, the last half lap between Massa and Kubica was AMAZING!
Very mature drive by Lewis Hamilton - where on earth did he learn to drive in the rain like that, he's only 22!! He is starting to remind me of a certain Brazillian...
